I was impressed when I viewed the exchange between Maxine and the bankers. the bankers she questioned on student loans didn't laugh out loud at her obviously uniformed question. I would have burst out laughing at Maxine's ignorance if I were them.

She knows how to make a Treasury Secretary sit up, roll over, and speak on command. I'd say she has the situation well in hand, as well as Mnuchin's "personality".

Some banks do offer private student loans. She should have first done some homework on those bankers to see if they offer student loans so as to know it would be useless to ask on that subject.
