Unfortunately, the NRA has destroyed their own reputation. They are simply a lobbying group for the gun industry and their goal is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Give us a break with the constitutional BS. It is about the money and politics. They are group full of partisans hacks that mock and abuse the 2nd Amendment.

When the NRA hypocrites care about the Emoluments Clause and other constitutional violations, I'll believe they care about the constitution.

The NRA looks like it will need more money from Russia to survive.

The NRA is a bunch of ass clowns who figured out how to make a lot of money selling fear to gun owners. There was a time when they really were a respectable organization, but that was decades ago.

The NRA has always had problems of cronyism, as does any large, democratically run org whether it's a 501, a union, or a publicly traded company handing out ungodly salaries to senior execs.

Nonetheless they are (unfortunately) always rated at or near the top of most powerful lobbies in surveys of congressional staffers. Ollie North as president is actually more of a figure-head. The real power, given the structure of NRA leadership, has been and continues to be Exec VP Wayne LaPierre.

I'm as anti-NRA as they come; just look at my posting history. But I tend to agree with those pro-NRA on this thread that this is just a tempest in a teapot.

This meme has been demolished time and time again. This is from 'Vox,' a progressive source:

But when you talk to experts who study the way money influences our political system, they say this account is wrong — or, at least, often badly oversimplified. The NRA may exert a massive and real influence on Washington, DC, but its campaign contributions can’t possibly be the corrupting agent singlehandedly thwarting meaningful action on gun control, as many of the analyses above suggest.
And, they say, we can come pretty close to proving it.
We don't do the important cause of gun control any good by repeating debunked memes about the NRA.
