Ted Cruz ran on a platform of a Flat Tax. Cruz won the Texas Republican primary in 2016. Nonetheless, Trump won the overall primary. Obviously Republican primary voters did not support a flat tax.

No surprise, the Trump Admin and Congress did not support a Flat Tax during the 2017 so- called tax reform.

The reform doubled the refundable Child Tax Credit, likely increasing the number of filers who paid no Federal taxes in 2018 and further rewarding people for having children they cannot support on an equal basis.

Prior to the 2018 mid terms, Trump announced a forthcoming big beautiful tax cut for the middle class before the election. That the Admin and Congress had no knowledge of this and was not in session were just pesky details Trump ignored. When pressed, Trump said the cuts would be forthcoming shortly after the election. Again, neither Trump’s Admin or Congress we’re aware of this.

Federalists vs Anti-Federalists.
Sure, the strong central government won the day.......

AND, even the proponents of the weak government DID DIFFERENTLY than their mouths dictated.

Jefferson...ran on making government smaller. Then he illegally funded the LA. Purchase and kept the National Bank....even tho he ran on abolishing it.

That debate is long over. A strong Central Government is the US Way. Now...you can debate whether that is better or worse, but it still "is".

Cherry picking "federalists" is a popular sport. For example, out of all those vast numbers of papers, there is almost nothing that talks about firearms except specifically for muster and militia. Nothing about protecting the home or person.

Example. Two people with an eye disease requiring a treatment/exam every two months:

1) Low-income person: Medical insurance for $30 a month, and a $15 co-pay for the treatment. Goes every 2 months, thanks you taxpayers!
2) Middle-income person: Medical insurance for $900 a month, plus FULL pay of treatment until $6,000 deductible is met. Goes every three or four months due to expense of providing the free care to the low-income person.

You liberals need to face reality and realize there is no free lunch. Someone always has to pay for it.
Again... Obamacare credits are not what = 0% Fed tax rate. Stick to the topic. The things that = 0% Fed tax rate are credits and reductions that you also benefit from. Are you forgoing your deductions to make sure the poor can't pay 0% in Fed taxes?

We wouldn't have a $1 trillion deficit if EVERYONE paid federal income tax. Make it a flat tax. Everyone pays the same rate. For example, 15%.

The $5,000,000 earner pays $750,000
The $50,000 earner pays $7,500

For access to the exact same Fed Gov services and benefits.

That's like person "A" paying $3.50 for a gallon of milk while person "B" has to pay $350 for that same gallon of milk because supposedly, "he can afford it." Same product/goods/services, but wildly different prices based on some perceived notion of what someone can "afford." There's no reason Fed Gov can't tax like that. There would still be some paying WAY more than others.

You people who complain about taxes need to quit whining and pull yourselves up by your own bootstraps. If you want more money, go out and earn it.

Yes. How else do you think the Fed Gov spends $600 billion/year on just Medicaid? There is no Medicaid tax, so there is no requirement to pay 10 years minimum in Medicaid tax before one is eligible for Medicaid benefits like there is with Medicare and the Medicare tax.

b : an unlawful taking (as by embezzlement or burglary) of property

You may not like the little detail of unlawful or may twist rightful owner around as you wish and will continue to do. Still not correct. Law says the govt can tax you.
