It’s sad to see a young, handsome, energetic waiter who is loaded with tattoos and mouth rings? I’ll still tip the guy, but I’d tip him more if he looked decent. When I was growing up, you had to pretty much dress the part to suit the customers (not the other way around). Why even hire someone like this? Is that all they can find?
I'd never not tip due to not liking the food. The waiter has no control over that.
That is your choice and your opinion. The staff brings the bad food. They are the representative. Sucks to be the face of the establishment sometimes. I think they do have some control. "Hey Joe your soup tasted like the Atlantic Ocean. Lay off the salt." "Hey Joe the customer ordered medium rare, not sun scorched ashes."
Both of my daughters worked as waitresses. They had no problem jumping on the cook for screwing up. They knew that their tips depended upon happy customers.

I never liked tattoos even when the thing was to have one or two. If they gave me good service I would tip them the same as everyone else.
I've never seen anyone that was handsome that had tatoos and piercings. They all look like crap anyway
I agree that most of the freaks are not attractive, but this guy was. Blond, skinny, smiling with good manners, always asking if the customer needed anything. Old farts around me were tipping him left and right. Saggy pants,liprings, tattoos and all. This was not a full service place, but the kind where you pick up your own tray. These waiters come around to take your tray, give drink refills, to-go boxes, etc
You all better get used to it - it’s here to stay. Stop looking down on folks !
