Meh. I've seen better burns between fifth graders doing "Your Mama" jokes.

Also Thomas Jefferson -- " The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. But I should mean that every man should receive those papers & be capable of reading them."

https://oll.libertyfund.org/quotes/302

Some scholars believe he was talking about the act of journalism more than actual newspapers. I'll let other folks get caught up in details.

Freedom of the press in the United States is legally protected by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. You cannot name any other industry and platform that is given that kind stature in The Constitution.

And btw...that tweet is a big nothing and was rather anticlimactic.

I wonder what newspapers of his time, Jefferson had in mind when he said that? Maybe Fox news isn't original in its role in the journalistic gutter?

People who only bring up Fox News are brainwashed. All corporate media has the same agenda, left and right.

If Fox News namesake William Fox was still alive (140), I would love to hear some of his burns at the current network.

Didn't know you were the official spokesperson for all things Thomas Jefferson might say.
