It's not about the fear (or lack thereof) of the shooter. It's about stopping him as soon as possible. Our schools have armed teachers and support staff BTW.
Criminals prey upon the weak and those who cannot defend themselves.
Gun free zones are magnets for massacres.
No one wants a shootout in school. But at least a shootout isn't a helpless slaughter.
No one is saying arm all teachers. The logical step is to arm staff members who are willing and comfortable to carry and put them through training. Maybe every school has 5-20 staff who may be armed at any time. It could be the lunch monitors, secretary, librarian, math teacher, principal, etc.. the point is it could be anyone.

You realize that people who would do something like that don’t CARE if someone is armed.

CM the others are right. just the fact that someone would pick up a weapon and go in a kill a bunch of people already puts their sanity in question(one reason i fully support the laws in every state allowing the finding of guilty but insane). sane people do not commit mass shootings, and they are not going to care if the teachers are armed or not. did the criminals that committed the mass shootings at columbine care if there were ARMED guards at the school? no they didnt.

I think this is a valid thought.
While I'm sure mass shooters tend to pick places they know will be most vulnerable, these days, you never know because ultimately it's about the shooter wanting publicity.

You have to realize that you don't have to actually be clinically insane in order to commit mass shootings. Because the ultimate aim of these shooters these days is simply to get attention and feed their massive narcissist egos. These shooters and wanna be shooters are perfectly normal people, but their desire for infamy overrides every other thought process.
Mass shootings are hardly a new phenomenon. But what IS recent is the rate at which these shootings are happening.
