For the record, I don't think they are all psychopaths. Psychopathy is not easy to identify and some are not comfortable diagnosing teens as psychopathic (at least until Eris Harris) because teenagers typically have a lot of the same traits as psychopaths just by being teenagers. Besides, my whole theory is that school shooters do not all fit the same profile, so I have a hard time getting my mind around the fact that every school shooters is a psychopath.

Consider this
Quote:
“In almost all high-end mass killings, the perpetrator’s thinking evolves,” said Kevin Cameron, executive director of the Canadian Center for Threat Assessment and Trauma Response.

“They have a passing thought. They think about it more, they fantasize, they slowly build a justification. They prepare, and then when the right set of circumstances comes along, it unleashes the rage.”

This evolution proceeds rationally and logically, at least in the murderer’s mind. The unthinkable becomes thinkable, then inevitable.
Are Mass Murderers Insane?

Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris were not the poor little bullied kids they were initially made out to be.

Think school shooters are usually bullied and unpopular?

And about the latest shooting in Colorado....
Quoted in link:
Quote:
Suspected Colorado STEM shooter was a bully, made jokes about school shootings, students sayThe suspected shooter, Devon Erickson, "would whisper, like get really close and kinda put his arm around you, and whisper in your ear, Ďdonít come to school tomorrow,'" former student Kevin Cole said.
And no one reported this? This makes my point.

Seems one thing these shooters have in common is that they tend to be lefties.
I am a radical left-winger and I've never shot anyone.

Those reacting this way may not all be the same in personality or background, but have in common the impulse to attack, due to emotional pain they have not dealt with. What they have in common is having somewhere along the line developed a problem, not having it recognized or treated. No matter what, those having reacted as they had (or an adult having done similarly) are emotionally unwell.

So, you do not believe anything is the cause for one to react in this way?
The quoted portion of the post is rife with contradictions. Whose fault is it that they choose to deal with their problems by killing someone?

They know courts don't have time to overturn this crap so they rely on these useless measures passing and taking a long time to overturn. But, in the meantime they can claim they "Did something." Even if something is more useless than if they did nothing.

They don't work. History is proof. They are a bunch of hand wringing maybe, might, could, should, perhaps with nothing measurable.

In the mean time we still have wide open school campuses yet a casino has better security than some prisons.
It is hard to think of what would work. My pet idea, which I keep pounding on, is that people must be much more aware of what "oddballs" are up to. And perhaps when someone is expelled from school where violent or threatening behavior is at issue, think Jarod Lochner or James Holmes, someone should obtain a search warrant of their home to see if they are assembling an arsenal. Perhaps "background check" laws are a good thing so that if someone has an arsenal they can often be charged with a crime, before people are hurt.

My true heroes in life are Che Guevera, Joanne Chesimard, Kathy Boudine and Ilhan Omar. Those are real progressives.
