They want to hurt Trump, but since they can't, they are going to try and hurt his AG, who has announced that there are investigations ongoing into the beginnings of this investigation and a number of other matters that are sensitive for the Democrats and the Obama regime. They have been hurt and are very possibly getting ready to be hurt some more, and they all know it.

They appear to be trying to intimidate and bully the AG into stopping those investigations. Which is arguably obstruction of justice by the House Democrats, by the way.
They certainly want to stop AG Barr from ANY investigations that would uncover how the Russian-Collusion-Delusion began - who did it and everyone involved.

You make a good point about obstruction charges. Barr is overseeing multiple investigations into the Democrats. Democrats trying to force him out because he's investigating them, is a crime.
More than all of that and stopping AG Barr and the DOJ from their Investigations - what the Democrats want most - according to the Subpoena to AG Barr - AND the Contempt Resolution is what they refer to as "all materials and underlying documents". They are demanding every single paper, electronic communications, wire taps, phone records, bank records, everything recovered, all FBI notes -- literally everything that Mueller got over a 2 year period and everything the FBI & CIA got over a 4. year period.

They want all the evidence that Barr has and that Mueller had .... they can't stop AG Barr unless they know what he has.

Subpoena from the House Judiciary to AG Barr - May 1, 2019

I particularly like the part where AG Barr is "demanded" to sign a release that gives up all "privilege" over literally everything and gives up "privacy rights" to anyone involved. All materials must be in unreacted form. The Contempt citation is about the Subpoena and what the Subpoena Demanded.

RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES FIND WILLIAM P. BARR, ATTORNEY GENERAL, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, IN CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS FOR REFUSAL TO COMPLY WITH A SUBPOENA DULY ISSUED BY THE COMMITTEE ON THE JUDICIARY

Resolved, That William P. Barr, Attorney General of the United States, shall be found to be in contempt of Congress for failure to comply with a congressional subpoena.

Resolved, That pursuant to 2 U.S.C. §§ 192 and 194, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall certify the report of the Committee on the Judiciary, detailing the refusal of William P. Barr, Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice, to produce documents to the Committee on the Judiciary as directed by subpoena, to the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, to the end that Mr. Barr be proceeded against in the manner and form provided by law.
Resolved, That the Speaker of the House shall otherwise take all appropriate action to enforce the subpoena.

Bottom Line here:
The Media and pundits yammer on about the 448 pg Mueller Report and the 1.5% that is currently available to Nadler and his merry crew - that they refuse to read. They have zero interest in reading it and don't give a flip about the few sentences or words that are redacted. What everyone is missing is that the Mueller Report itself is a Summary of his entire Team's Investigation. There are Millions of documents and investigative materials that back-up that report ... THAT is what Nadler and the Democrats want. THAT is what the DOJ is currently checking out and Investigating.
No member of Congress has the Legal or even Moral right to that material - no Court would ever agree to that.

One phrase appears over&over&over&over again in this Contempt Resolution - it tells us what this is really about. I didn't count the number of times Nadler used "access to materials" - but it was dozens.
There are still 22 cases in Federal Courts - Nadler wants all the evidence to that also - nothing in the US Constitution says that any Congressional Committee has the right to evidence in ongoing cases.

"underlying and supporting evidence and investigatory materials cited in the Mueller Report, and to other materials collected and produced by the Special Counsel’s office."

"access to the Mueller Report’s underlying materials."
“transmitting the underlying evidence and materials to the relevant committees at that time.”
“the release of the full report and the underlying evidence and documents is urgently needed” by the committees “to perform their duties under the Constitution.”
"access to the Mueller Report’s underlying materials."

When in fact, he is supposed to be OUR lawyer, the people's lawyer ... and we pay his salary.

Through malpractice, Barr's reputation is ruined and the constitution is assailed.

My problem is and always has been is that Trump and cohorts somehow believe that they are above the law.
Sure, the liberals feel the same way just not to the extent that Trump and company do. Trump believes that he doesn’t have to answer to anyone. Like others have said he doesn’t believe in checks and balances.

everybody feels the same way about Congress ... they suck. Last thing the American people want is for this 2 year investigation to be re-investigated again by partisan hacks in Congress. Dems are overplaying their hand.

But you Dems know best, start a new investigation all over again, see how that works out for you...

Pretty much every president has felt they don’t have to answer to anyone. You think this is new?

No, and I mentioned that but TRUMP is in the hot seat for the same thing now, so it’s on him not past or future presidents but him.

Except what Congress is demanding is unreadable. They won’t be happy until Trump is out of office

Actually, the congress has more right to material then the Department of Justice.

The Department of Justice is a creature of the congress, not the other way around.
