The human brain is not developed until the age of 26.
Giving anyone a voice under this age can be risky.

You people think a university child psychology course is the equivalent of a NAMBLA seminar on how to most stealthily take pictures of baby genitalia

Yes.

That's the one thing, in the beginning of this three day part of a four month course that might warrant looking into more...that learning objective that went:

1 Discuss examples that demonstrate how infants of both sexes are born with the capacity for sexual pleasure and response.

I don't know enough about psychology to determine what valid reasons there are to describe it that way, assuming they exist.

Thank you for not stating something necessarily foolish, like almost everyone else who is upset by this course did.

Default Weird right wing SJW's....

Ball State university has a similar course segment that describes childhood sexuality, even in infants:
-
The capacity for sexual response is present at birth. During the first two years in life
boys and girls discover the pleasures of genital stimulation, they rub their genitals on toys
or dolls. In some cases boys and girls have had what appears to be an orgasm. It is
impossible to know what sexual experiences mean to infants, but they are gratifying.
Many infants of both sexes continue in this gratification unless a negative vibe is given
from the parents. Some girls will do pelvic thrusts, and for boys its erections, although
ejaculation is lacking.
2.
What are the common behaviors of sexual development that occur during childhood?
-
People show considerable variation in their sexual development during childhood.
Common features in the developmental sequence tend to emerge.
A child can learn to
express their emotions by kissing and hugging. First the child does childhood
masturbation, and then childhood sex play. Childhood masturbation involves the child
rubbing or foundling the genitals on dolls of the bed. Childhood sex play is takes place
with friends and happens as early as the age of 2 or 3. They would play house and rub
themselves together to play sex. By the age of 8 or 9 boys and girls begin playing by
themselves. The curiosity of sex still remains high. By the age of 10 or 11 kids are
interested in body changes. This is when a child is first self-conscious about their body.

I imagine the only controversy, assuming the above data is true, is whether or not to label that sexuality.

I have to go. I may look into this more later.

Reminds me of the House episode with the toddler playing with her hoo-hoo. It's not like the nerves down there are just dormant until after you get married.

I think most normal people understand that, and take it for what it is and move on with life.

Why does it need studied in this context?

Most people aren't majoring in psychobabble and don't need to. Considering it's, I presume, an upper division or graduate level psychobabble course it would seem rather important. Even as someone who really doesn't much buy into the psychobabble sex and sexual development are just pretty relevant. Now, I agree that the psychobabbler types get a bit obsessive about it but then they probably think the same about about Brownian motion models. And to be fair I spent a lot more time than three days on those.

Take for example, the underlying premise that if children of a certain age are curious about something, adults should tell them about it. Why again is this so? I can rattle off all sorts of things that a child might be curious about that are inappropriate as subjects of discussion at that age. Where precisely is the evidence that telling children about "BJs" or gays leads to more positive "outcomes?" Similarly, where is the evidence that teaching your 5/6 year-old what "the F word" means leads to more positive outcomes?

And, man, I wonder what the prof's opinion is on the questions listed for adolescents? I wonder how the prof would answer the question about premarital sex and I wonder if that opinion is presented as the correct one?

Here's a fun counterfactual. Let's pretend a prof created a class in which the underlying premise was that frank discussions about intercourse and homosexuality should be withheld from children until they are teenagers. And instead of the current topics for adolescents on that list, it included questions like, "In what ways does premarital sex harm young people" or "Is it ever too late to return to abstinence?" Would such a course be tolerated, keeping in mind that it is no less scientific than the actual one (and probably more scientific).

Perhaps instead of orienting the social "sciences" and humanities towards advocacy and subjective "lived experiences," all these disciplines would be better served by pursuing truth, regardless where that takes them?

I'm predicting that within the next 50 years, as long as these stupid libturds are still running the schools (And, I believe they will be and things will be far worse than today) you will see high school projects like filming a porno movie will be common
