What do you think? Are the Chinese a threat or are they good guys? Do they steal our intellectual property? Play by the rules with regard to trade?

Economic Threat sure, but i really worry about the amount of "thread" they produce, that darn silk road. Title spelling errors are always fun.

The Chinese are out for their own interests and I don't have a problem with that. More Americans should be on board with Trump out for Americans' interests.

Depends.

I think that China, due to its size and very long history of civilization, thinks that its rightful place as the most important nation on earth is currently being held by the US. And they clearly have a long-range plan to take that place back, and are patiently working that plan.

So in some areas, like IP, they definitely are a threat. In other ways, they are not.

I have a problem with the US in effect saying to other nations "we are capitalists, and you need to get with the program", and when those other nations do start to emulate us, the US says, "hold on, we didn't mean that you should be that capitalistic".

The problem is not that they are TOO capitalist. They were given a pass for being a third world country for a long time to give them help and now they don't need the advantages anymore.

Well said... China imported our trash and e waste for years.... Until last year I think.

They allowed multinationals to make things cheaply and efficiently... Anyone who owns aapl stock the last 10-20 years owes China bigly

China is a real threat. Trump is a fraud and the Chinese know he is fraud. Chinese will play him. If we had a real leader I would feel more comfortable. Trump will cave and a year or two later we will hear of Chinese concessions to the Trump Organization or a business agreement with a Chinese oligarch. It is the way Trump plays. Screw the nation, profits for Trump and sycophants. The Chinses know Trump's kind.
