This article is coming from Alabama. Trump's tariffs are beyond ridiculous.

Trump steel tariffs cost $900,000 for every job created, experts say
https://www.al.com/news/2019/05/trum...perts-say.html

And not just the steel tariffs, now he's talking about giving farmers $27 Billion in tariff relief on top of the farm subsidies they've already received. In the meantime, China will find other sources for soybeans so farmers could lose the market permanently.

How many times did we hear from Trump supporters that paying for green jobs was socialism? Funny how they don't mind if they are benefitting. $900,000 for each steel job? That is insane.

Are they counting any of the spin off jobs created. Around here I know the tarrifs have created alot of mom and pop furniture jobs that have nothing to do with steel production.

More liberal drivel.

This from the same people who told us China trade policies and NAFTA would help American manufacturing!

How about the one that said we don't want "dirty" manufacturing jobs- we will just be a service economy!

Liberal "sense" is nonsense.

On my farm, I have had the chance to use Chinese steel, which is so brittle, it is like iron. Bridges built in the US with Chinese steel have to be re-built in less than five years. Getting rid of Chinese steel FOREVER is a bonus!

That is not what Trump supporters said when they were complaining about green jobs.

"Green jobs" nearly destroyed the economy of Spain. Since when has a strong steel industry been harmful to a nation?

Its a WAPO article. No wonder it reeks of exaggeration, sensationalism.

Is there a problem with Peterson Institute for International Economics?

U.S. consumers and businesses are paying more than $900,000 a year for every job saved or created by Trump steel tariffs, according to calculations by experts at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. The cost is more than 13 times the typical salary of a steelworker, according to Labor Department data, and it is similar to other economists' estimates that Trump's tariffs on washing machines are costing consumers $815,000 per job created.
