my takeaway; think real hard before hiring someone who is LGBT, as some may use/abuse this newfound right to sue you.
There was a gay employee who was terrible at a former employer. They could not fire him because he would've sued, no doubts about it. They just tiptoed around this person until he left.
The Bible is not the backbone of US law--the Constitution is.
Try telling that to Republicans. The only part of the Constitution they care about is the Second Amendment. Other than that, they believe we’d be better off ruled by the book of Leviticus. Except of course the verses they don’t like such as the ones dealing with shellfish and mixed fabrics.
That's my point. They have the same rights as everyone else, so what else are they getting that needs it's own special bill to define?
So, I wonder if I can use this law to walk up to a strip club and demand they let me in (a woman with no male escort) and I can just say I identify as a man, would they let me in no questions asked?

I find it really interesting that the ones obsessed with the bible and quoting bible verses are all atheists.

Maybe you mis-spoke, but plenty of women go to strip clubs.

who said anything about the mythical bible
the constitution is law
1st amendment...FREEDOM of speech...any speech... but liberals want to oppress speech, any speech THEY DEEM "hate"
1st amendment... freedom of religion...any religion I may choose, and have the FREE PRACTICE OF.... yet liberals like you want to condemn any Christian

I’m pretty sure that they do already. Women have a much easier time sexually than men do. Women can be tomboys, butch, dress in pants- nobody blinks an eye. But if a man wears a dress or acts flamey, all hell breaks loose.

Visit the midwest some time or maybe the bible belt. You will discover that those who are mired in the bible verses and take them literally are not in fact atheists.
This is probably in response to SCOTUS agreeing to hear whether Title VII protections extend to gays. Will Trump sign it? Will it pass the Senate? Maybe it’s time we stop making arbitrary categories and just prohibit discrimination based on anything except conduct or things like employment or credit history for loan applications. That would cover everything from gays to MAGA hats.
It very well could be. It is an odd time to bring it up when they have a solid Republican Senate and President who don't believe in equal rights. As a gay man who was well "out" in the workplace in the mid-90s (in California no less), I was never close to being fired because my work was so good. I was told however by a terminated Team Lead that the District Sales Manager (Louisiana-bred) did not want me to have First choice (I was Top Producer) of my selling zip codes because I was gay. He allegedly wanted the first choice to be the #2 guy who was the married guy with 2 kids. Supposedly, this team lead spoke up for me and I earned the First pick after the Sales Manager was called out. I used to read about people being fired from their jobs when the owner/lead found out they were gay. This could be especially true in one of the indifferent religious organizations who pick and choose which bible sins are acceptable. I personally would't want to work for such a place as a gay man. It's been a while since I've read the gay rag publications, but I'm sure that it still happens especially in the south. Only about 1/2 of the states have state laws that protect sexual orientation from being fired at the job despite the high quality of their work. I do think that it is a ploy for the reason that you stated. There is no way that the Repubs would vote in favor of a bill that protects transgender. I even have a problem with that because it holds down the movement. We are not a very large percentage of the voting population either and we tend to be in states where our vote doesn't matter in the Electoral college (except for Flori-duh) and Pennsylvania. So, the bill can't possibly be to get our votes at the expense of being tagged with the "special interest" label.
I long for the day when there will be a low taxes, low spending party that will support social rights. We are stuck with the Dems who really go too far in their coddling of illegals/refugees (many of whom support backwards social thought) - pretty much a nonstarter for me to vote for them.
