Not to mention a Darwinistic 19th century health care system where some people are perfectly fine if some of their fellow citizens cannot afford their medical bills or have their prescriptions filled just as long as we do not have "socialism" in America.
Move to Cuba or Venezuela then, because everyone is equal there. Well, except for the politicians who work in government. Oh, and the children of the politicians who work in government.

Look at how filthy rich the Castro family in Cuba, or Hugo Chavez's family have all became, under socialism. Hugo Chavez's daughter is a billionaire. So maybe you need to rethink this notion of yours about the fairness and equality of socialism.

Why move to “socialist” Cuba or Venezuela when they can move to “socialist” Canada or Europe?

What exactly is “socialism” in your mind?

I don't get it. Free markets made us the #1 economy on earth. "Poor people" have air conditioning,TVs, cell phones, cars, and are so overfed that obeisity is an epidemic.

Go to a socialist country and you'll see true poverty. From dumpster diving in Venezuela to an average worker in Europe with a 2000 EUR salary and perhaps 100 EUR in disposable income each month after everything else goes to the government, where home ownership, a car or some money in the bank is the luxury of a few.

And we need to change our system?!?!? Talk about being SPOILED ROTTEN and having NO IDEA how good we have it!

There are no free markets and there haven't been in a very long time.

But you know that.

Is there any reason to think anyone who was polled knows what socialism is?

I doubt it.

I hear what you're saying about the excesses of capitalism but there's better ways to fight it, rather than turning the country into Cuba.
No thanks, where I live the ruling party is doing its best to turn New York State into the next Venezuela. Although maybe Illinois or California will beat us to it.

I am not against capitalism, its 1,000 times better then communism but I still believe it has a lot of flaws. The Establishment, both politicians in the Republican and in the Democratic Party have been misruling this country for years. Just as long as they are doing well, who cares about the other 80-90% of Americans. Well, if they continue the process, it will eventually tear the country apart.

I'm happy to live in a world of gray. Not everything is absolute. 100% socialism is not the answer and neither is unchecked capitalism. Of course Canada and successful European countries aren't 100% socialism but those arguing only want to look at the absolutes. Which by the way, isn't necessarily the cause of Venezuela's problems. Or Cuba's.

You can’t possibly be this oblivious to your surroundings.

I’ll just chalk it up to you missing your morning coffee.

You’re lining up for your cut just like everyone else.
