At this point, I've pretty much given up on the wall ever being a thing.

Trump has tried, but the Dems and even a few Repubs refuse to do anything to secure the border. It's a good talking point to them, but nothing more.

The left-wing open borders crowd and the "right-wing" big business cheap labor crowd aren't having it.

But it's the greatest 1.7 miles of wall ever built in the world, and if you disagree the you can take it up the matter up with Genovese Construction who also supplied the concrete for Trump Tower.

Of course it was for show. He would have happily taken that wall money to spread out to his supporters for big contracts, though.

And, whatever portion gets built, he'll make a fuss and cut a ribbon or dedicate it to Ivanka or something.
