Why? The last presidential election, 2016, I noticed most police officers voted for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton and a lot of them have "Trump" stickers on their police cars.

Why?

My guess would be this is not correct, as they are protective of their union.

Insofar as it is true, it could have something to do with their constant demonization by the Democrat party, and the fact that liberal voters make their jobs damn near impossible with laws that favor criminals, illegals, and bums. So help me I was just talking to an officer about this today.

But my guess is still that more vote Democrat than Republican, or at least there is a comparable split.

Support of the Thin Blue line, limiting real accountability.

Support for the war on drugs, keeping their cash cow alive.

Support for authoritative style solutions.

Tradition.

Well, Trump DID promise to be the 'law and order' President.

I can tell you this - if they are voting Republican they can kiss their union good-bye. Nothing a republican hates more than a workers union.

Because no matter the general GOP stance on unions, its politicians overwhelmingly support cop and firefighter unions

I frankly remember Obama stating the police should be targeted by antifa like groups. Perhaps that's why. When your social policies fail so bad that you throw the police under the rug to deflect anger and attention away from the true perpetuators of people's sufferings is what I got from Obama.

Which party is more receptive to and has more respect for cops?

Is this question for real?

It's like asking why teachers vote democrat.
