You can hardly see the fireworks through all the smoke from the fireworks!

I only caught the last fifteen minutes of the show but host John Stamos, looking worryingly thin, said it would be repeated on PBS if anyone is interested.

Looked like a lot of rain, a history speech, some good music but very little of it, and a few planes that were too far up to appreciate.

It's really sad that he can never be a normal POTUS for all of the people of the USA.

Yes. It's a Trump Rally. All about him. Not about Independence Day. Everything Trump does is about him.

Really, what leaders of first world parties demand military parades? That's what dictators do.

Yes, this happens every year. It is “A Capitol Fourth” the annual free concert and fireworks display at the West Lawn of the Capitol. Immediately preceding the fireworks it is tradition for the band to play Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture complete with cannon fire. This very large celebration has been going on for more than 50 years.

Fireworks on the Mall, which the National Park Service has orchestrated for more than half a century, draws hundreds of thousands of Americans annually and marks one of the highlights of the city’s tourist season. The event has been broadcast live on television since 1947 and since 1981 has been accompanied by the free concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol featuring high-profile musicians and a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra. A "Capitol Fourth" as it has been called, forever, is a daylong 8 a.m. to 10 p.m wonderful event.

Trump inserted himself this year as everyone now knows, by adding an address and a political and military aspect and cordoned off a huge area on the Mall where folks previously gathered at the Lincoln Memorial to watch the fireworks and gather and tour all day. Today one had to be a Republican friend or ally or donor or family to be in that area. Oh and he changed the location of the fireworks which were always spectacular over the Washington Monument.
