It's not pointless. It is thanking our military as well as making a lot of people appreciate the United States and its founding. The 4th of July is just not about backyard barbecues and fireworks. It is about freedom, and liberty. Try it sometimes. Its better than Progressive Oppression.
There are already two federal holidays which honor veterans and their service.
Veterans Day, celebrated each November, is the day set aside by this nation to honor and thank its vets. Memorial Day in May honors those veterans who have died while in military service.
The Fourth of July was not meant to honor the signing of the Declaration of Independence and birth of the US as a nation.
Trump is using and politicizing the military for his own personal purposes. It is shameful and goes against the long held tenets and norms of this nation.

The parade is a celebration for America. It might be as the Left calls it one big Rally for Trump BUT guess what I would rather have a President that Loves and promotes America than and entire party that makes apologies for it and yearns to change it.
The Left is so Anti American it is really getting ridiculous but they are so against Trump that they are automatically against anything he is for including MAGA.

Wrong! The 4th of July has always been about all US citizens celebrating the birth of our country becoming an independent nation. It is absolutely about barbecues, picnics, family & friend gatherings, parades,etc.
This is Trumps way to get the parade he wanted that he was told would cost to much.
So he does it to the tune of minimum of 2 1/5 million so far on the taxpayer dime.
Everything he does is about HIM. He is so stupid he asked for the "Sherman tanks" that haven't been made since WWII.
The fact that that Republican convention is the one handing out tickets tells you everything you need to know about this. Not about celebrating and uniting America at all.

It's OK to give Billions to ILLEGAL ALIENS in healthcare, welfare, education and everything else, but a few million to celebrate America's founding is all of a sudden to expensive for Democrats and the "progressive" supporters. Go Trump. Patriotism is allowed in the United States.
Of course there is a difference. How a person appropriately addresses an audience is very much dependent on the occasion. Trump has demonstrated time and time again his lack of understanding of this very basic principle.
