I noticed that years ago topic about social justice activism, mgtow, feminism, pro black, or white nationalist were all relagated to blogs and forums. Problem with blog sites is that sites need to be managed, as well as paying for web hosting. With social media, content can be removed by the site itself and the social media site is free to use like Facebook and Twitter. Also social media allows content to be shared and virally spread where a blog or a forum can not be spread so easily due to such online spaces only being a web page.

I remember 10 years ago. I never saw any feminism, pro black, mgtow, social justice activism, alt right and especially no white nationalism on social media. If one goes to black sector if youtube or black Twitter. Both sections are full of activism and talking about white supremacy. Or one may go to an man's page on Facebook or youtube or Twitter where men talk about problems with women, and such topics may have very sexist view points. Like wise for female feminist spaces on social media. Even social media personalities like Stephan Molyneux and red ice harbors near white nationalism. Than you have social justice activist sharing people's address and personally stalk enemies home or to try to get people fired from their jobs. With all that said. Do any of you think white nationalism, social justice activistim, woke pro black, feminism, mgtow and alt right ruined social media for good?

Last. What can we do as a society to make social media great again.

I think we will get through this as soon as politicos figure out that ID politics is ineffective. It did not work for Hillary, and I predict it's not going to work for Biden. As the GOP picks up more support from minority voters, as they have gradually been doing, ID politics will fade from the front page.

The loons, whether 'black nationalist' or 'white nationalists' will be relegated back to the fringes where they belong.

Even if one states their political views in a manner that is, for all practical purposes, not offensive by any stretch of that word, there will still be some that will get offended. Also, they might choose to be offended for the sake of sympathy even though know it is not offensive. Thus, it is hard to answer how we can make social media great again as that answer is so subjective. For example, a White supremacist seeing that there is more alt-Right groups on a social media might see that as making social media great again. One way we ideally make social media great again is if we were no SJW/P.C. but that is harder to do in practice, depending on the situation.

Good points all around.o remember on Facebook I would never see things about social justice, or white or black nationalism. Social media companies will have to chase the echo chambers out.

Social media is already passe, for all the reasons you outlined. Facebook and the like will be info ghettos like radio in the future.

Young people increasingly participate in online discussions in anonymous, temporary conversations. These are not part of the web, meaning they are not publicly searchable, and often the thread disappears after some time, or is invite-only.

C-D is a dinosaur in this regard, in that here people manage accounts and personas that persist, and which the whole world can read.

I come here because I am old fashioned and not plugged into the new ecosystem.

Last. What can we do as a society to make social media great again.

From a business perspective, social media giants made a really poor choice when they started to politicize their platforms and demonstrate an inherent bias for one side of the political spectrum (the left). There is no walking this back and ultimately Facebook and Twitter will fail as a result of these choices over the longer-term. Facebook isn't considered "cool" anymore by the younger crowd, and Twitter has basically become SJW keyboard warriors 24/7 and hasn't been "cool" with the younger apolitical crowd for years.

Instagram will continue to remain popular because it is largely an instant gratification vanity stroke.

It's hard to take your post seriously if you equate something like the idea of equal rights for women with the racist, anti-semitic rants of the alt-right.
