Between St. Louis and Kansas City, I'd favor KC when it comes to the Show Me state's largest cities. Part of it is my disgust with the St. Louis Cardinals, but that's another story. I also have a soft spot for the West. What has been of interest to me is why Kansas City has such a high murder rate. Atlanta is more Black than Kansas City by a long margin (29 percent vs 52 percent). Atlanta has a lower murder rate. In fact, Georgia has a lower murder rate than Missouri, and Georgia is 30 percent Black(and has other majority Black cities like Macon, Albany, and Savannah), vs Missouri, which is 11 percent Black.
In Cook County, Chicago doesn't have the highest homicide rate. Harvey, a suburb just a couple of miles south, is currently pushing a rate of 40 per 100k and has had a higher murder rate than Chicago typically per year at least since 1989.

For them, it's "once I've killed you, I can kill 14 more people, and the state can only kill me one time". In that same episode, some Zoe Pound members said that they don't stop gangbanging until they die. They don't seem phased by an early death.

In the New Orleans episode, a detective talked about the Gotti Boys. He said that some of those kids don't care if they live or die, and are all about their idea of "I don't give a (explicative)".

In the Milwaukee episode, a criminal justice professor said that if you were to ask some of those kids where they saw themselves at 30, they would laugh. They don't see themselves living to be 30.

One them in those cases. Young men who expect to be dead at a young age. They don't care if they die either. They're numb to the idea of dying young. For this reason, they won't hesitate to kill.
We are both fans of Gangland. I recall that episode about Zoe Pound, a gang that was founded by legal Haitian immigrants in the 80’s.

"It’s like a bunch of tots in a sandbox calling each other poo- poo heads."

just like Joan Rivers said:
"i like Organized Crime.
they know how to treat a Lady.
i don't like Disorganized Crime."

Ding ding ding. And here you have it. The "but others are kind of worse excuse." That is why you have a problem. You admit and accept that it is bad, but use the excuse, others are worse. So what if a handful of other cities statistically have slightly more murders. The fact remains that Chicago is still one of the worst in the nation. No, not all of Chicago, just the part the elites don't care about because they dont have to deal with it personally.

Those cities you mention are bad and likely suffer from the same mentality. Not our fault because.....

It is the fault of the cities and their managers, ie the council, there mayor and the police as well as the people.

The people in the high crime areas simply accept. "Its just how it is." They aren't safe and feel even less safe if they speak out.
How diligently does Chicago investigate dirty cops? Clean up the police first then clean up the criminals on the street.

Blaming everyone else will not solve the problem. Pointing fingers at other cities because they are worse only serves to offer a free pass. I honestly pity the people who live in the south side. No one should have to endure that crap in the United States.

Atlanta has had only one Republican mayor for the past 164 years, albeit some were of the Southern Democrat variety during Jim Crow.

Atlanta is substantially blacker than Chicago. It’s population is a fraction of Chicago.

This tells me there are alot of people with anger issues. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s...nship_2014.xls
And many of these disputes happen on social media and related PMs.

As I understand it, it is considered poor form to disable your location on social media. Issue a taunt- a challenge and your opponent will locate you and your pals standing outside of an apartment complex. No big deal to spray the lot of them with bullets, during a drive- bye.

Is there any street in the US where it is ok to discharge a firearm for the heck of it?

It is legal to conceal carry on public streets anywhere in the US, provided compliance with state and local licensing/ permitting, when appropriate.

It is reasonable to assume nearly everyone who lives in the roughest areas is carrying, legal or otherwise.

The overwhelming majority of gun homicides in Chicago happen on public streets.

Schools have been and will continue to close due to substantially reduced student populations.
Ok then let them keep killing themselves. What the hell do I care?
