But it won't be an "abortion debate game changer".

No matter how low we push pregnancy and abortion rates, there will never be a "zero" need for abortion. We'll just be having the same arguments over fewer incidences.
Agreed. The right to choose should always be available.

I thought that's what men wanted. Especially those who fear getting stuck paying child support, getting stuck paying child support for a kid they didnt want, getting duped into paying child support for a kid that isnt theirs and not having any say so concerning a pregnancy.
Exactly. How can giving men the option to use birth control be a bad thing??

If I were a man I'd be celebrating.

The men won't go for it either, as many will think it's a plot to reduce their virility and masculinity. And it very well could be just that. Very few men will have a passive attitude, when that might be at risk.

The old joke about what the people are called, who practice the "Rhythm Method", may apply to those who might depend on this pill. They're called, "parents".
Exactly. 99% is not good enough. I remember after hubs vasectomy he had to keep going back for a sperm count until it show 0% sperm. We were told in the meantime to use another method.

99% is good enough for the female bc pill though? And condoms are ok at 98% with perfect use?

From the article:

Because the drug would take at least 60 to 90 days to affect sperm production, 28 days of treatment is too short an interval to observe optimal sperm suppression, Wang said. They plan longer studies, and if the drug is effective, it will move to larger studies and then testing in sexually active couples.

You got me. Having some control over whether they become fathers while still being able to hit it seems to me to be something worth celebrating.

Contraceptives is something that is sometimes overlooked in harem anime/manga/light novels.

????? Not sure what your point is. Short of surgical removal of testes or ovaries, no bc method is 100% effective.

We do the best we can.
