to really tell this story you need to talk about the U.S. dirty wars in Central America in the 1980s. You need to talk about the impact of neoliberal economic policies. You need to talk about the catastrophe of climate change caused by the U.S. and other major world powers. You need to know history.

We've been influencing other countries elections since WW2, but if someone does it to us that's horrible. Ugly Americans.

I don't buy that argument, never have for one reason. If we truly believe communism leads to a failing system then we would let it play out. Let them fail and allow them to look for answers. Let them overthrow their own government, let them see us prospering, let them see what free expression and thought looks like.

The whole point is for people to seek out that shining beacon on the hill, not smash them over the head with it.

Covert wars are the American way. I'd like to see a few more, in a few countries that do bad things to us here and abroad.

If students were interested in history they would teach it in school and stop trying to get rid of it !!!

interesting article...the catholic church supported a fascist parachute brigade in its efforts to fight "godless" communism in Europe...so when a part of the catholic church fights the US back fascist elements something has gotten totally out of control as in too much murder very telling...

smedley butler was a gangster for the US banks in central America a 100 years ago..

us business hired a public relations firm in the 1950s and "made up" a communist threat to justify intervention in Guatemala..it has been my experience that conservative are not interested in history and in fact support their own "Domino theory" scenarios

Wars are a little old. Honduras is the best example of US imperialism in Central America.

2009 coup, then the current president changed the constitution and openly stole the elections to stay in power, all with US blessings. So why take out former president in 2009 and keeping another one in 2018? The former one was raising wages and rolling back neo-liberal policies. The present president is pushing privatization, opening more the country to trans-national corporations while taking indegenous land and taking more loans for militarism.

Why is it too hard to believe rich countries are actively keeping poor countries poor to exploit their raw materials and cheap labor? Colonialism ended not too long ago. Free trade (which is more to do with the overturn of local law and less to do with trade), external debt, militarism, etc. simulate the same colonial policies.
