I thought that videos of this type had been rightly banned from youtube. How is this guy able to get around that commonsense ban?

Has the murder rate gone up since the legalizing of them in your area ?
I became convinced a while back that he's a very good troll on gun topics, after seeing him post logical, well-reasoned responses in other thread topics.

This is an interesting ruling. Suppressors were already designated as "firearms" controlled under the National Firearms Act of 1934. If they now in fact aren't "firearms," they should be removed from the NFA.

There may well be some interesting Unintended Consequences.

This dichotomy of views (statutory vs constitutional) has existed pretty much since the NFA was enacted so I don't see this having much of an impact.

The NFA controls certain types of firearms. If a suppressor is no longer a firearm, the NFA is no longer applicable (to suppressors).

I expect practical challenges to this very soon.

Why are these things even legal?

Be that as it may, thank heaven for small favors.

suppressors never hurt anyone.

saves hearing

rate of fire unaffected

how many times have suppressors been used in crimes?

considering the conviction of most murders are less than 10 per cent, given the lack of community cooperation, it is doubtful a suppressor will thwart cops from solving crimes, which they attempt after the crime has been committed.

Get a federal tax stamp, applicants thoroughly investigated by the feds...much like NJ residents who apply for a firearm id card. No harm no foul as the system exists right now.

They didn't rule that a suppressor is not a firearm, they ruled that a suppressor is not a "bearable arm" as defined by the constitution, hence the difference in statutory and constitutional views of suppressors. Not saying that there won't be challenges, there most definitely will be since there has been more concerted efforts to either remove suppressors from the NFA or work around NFA restrictions recently, but there is a difference between statutory attempts (e.g. Hearing Protection Act) and constitutional challenges to the NFA in general esp. considering that apparently in the eyes of SCOTUS, suppressors were never bearable arms to begin with (i.e. nothing has changed).
