"Silencers". In Germany it is considered rude to go the range without one. That said good quality hearing protection is just fine. I actually wear ear plugs and muffs. I never needed a "silencer" and was only curious about them. A half way decent machinist can make them all day for next to nothing.

We all are government property. Can't even die and have your body released to your family without the permission from the state.

Owning a suppressor doesnt turn a person into an assasin

Agreed-

However, I have many, many guns and find little need for suppressors (except when hunting hogs or coyotes). One non-suppressed shot and you evening is over, as everything in a three mile radius just heard you.

Suppressors make your weapons very dirty! I have never seen rifles so filthy after shooting suppressed for the evening. Just takes a little more cleaning, of course, but you can make a "gas gun" a little sticky shooting multiple rounds with a silencer.

They are heavy and change the balance of the weapon. With thermal scopes and suppressors, we always have to use support "sticks" to balance a rifle. They are just too damn unbalanced and awkward otherwise. I can shoulder a BAR and shoot it more comfortably than a suppressed AR-10 with a thermal scope and a BAR is very heavy and not really intended to be fired that way.

Nonetheless, if people want them- what the hell. They are just another accessory that can be fun for some and useful for others. The "fun" factor of suppressed wears off after a few shots. Full auto weapons, on the other hand, keeps you grinning whenever you use them.

All who have silencers may not be assassins, but all assassins love them some silencer. Did you watch the video? The trained Samurai and the strip club bounce both stood NO chance against the Russian mobster/hit-man with a silencer.

I've never seen a police officer with a silencer. If the police don't need them, why would the average person?
