He's the establishment candidate. We'll how that works out this time around. And does he have the actual energy to campaign or will be like Hillary?

It feeds him and makes him powerful. Sure, it will make everyone inside the TDS echo chamber say "woot, we GOT HIM!!!" And that will last until a day or two later max, when Trump will drop a beating on Biden with vicious counterpunching.

Remember when Ted Cruz won Colorado in the 2016 primaries. Remember when he, the TDS Republicans and the whole media were crowing about the "big victory" for Cruz that was going to turn the race upside down? And remember how less than 24 hours later, Trump had turned that into a Cruz loss, a victory for him, and actually is the moment he buried Cruz? All with counterpunching.

You guys keep thinking that a vulgar bombast like Trump is like other politicians who get negative press and then whimper about the high road when asked for comment. What about the last 3 years makes that belief possible I will never know, but if Biden goes solo and has a "let's bash Trump" event, it is going to end badly for Biden and the DNC.

I don't have a dog in this race, so allow me to be impartial and indirectly warn Biden off his erroneous course of action. Trump will not get beat with anti-Trump as a platform. The only way he gets beat is a platform of doing things for people and making him try to counter ideas that poll well.

Like tonight, Biden will say "China must be dealt with, but Trump is making it worse." Nowhere in that entire line of attack will Biden give you even a glimpse of anything he proposes to "do about China." Trump will be seen as doing something, ad Biden will be dropping empty critique with no plan of his own. Given the choice between nothing (Biden) and something (Trump), people generally choose something, even if it doesn't poll well. That's a major reason why incumbents don't lose that often. They are in the office doing things, and the challenger is simply criticizing and most often offering nothing of their own other than that criticism.

And tonight Biden will take that "offer nothing and just criticize" plan and romp the accelerator pedal on it. Nothing could be more foolish, particularly because of who he is attacking that way. It's just so misguided, but there's a reason Biden has never gotten the big boy chair.

This, exactly.

If Biden, or any of the other candidates for that matter, want to unsettle Trump, best thing they can do is ignore him completely.
Don't say his name, don't allude to his policies, nothing.

Anything else will just give him and his base more fuel for their dumpster fire.

All the way from disinformation campaigns to getting help from "friends".
Zeitgeist won't be running in the 2020 election. Also, the mainstream media echo chamber drives the zeitgeist. At some point, a single person has to be the challenger, and that person will be on the ballot. If all they have is general socialist platitudes and bromides, or just negative criticism of the incumbent, they are going to lose. Who the incumbent is doesn't matter, who the challenger is doesn't matter.

Our electoral politics history proves that Americans almost always vote for something and against nothing, and minus two elections since 1932, challengers offering nothing but Incumbent_Bad as platforms lose. And before you declare Trump uniquely bad, remember that the opposition said all the same "unprecedented" crap about Obama, Dubyah, Clinton, Reagan, etc. Every administration is the worst one ever while they are in office. I get your anti-Trump angst and zealotry, but understand that to both anarchist and student of history, what I hear you claiming about Trump is exactly the same stuff I hear before every 2nd term election since I've been alive. The opposition party always claims to be saving the Republic from some diabolical would-be dictator, they always talk about the general mood, the zeitgeist, this poll, that survey, etc...and when they offer nothing much beyond "Incumbent_Bad, our turn!" as a platform, they lose.

The Democrats will need more than just Orange_Man_Bad, and right now, they have nothing else, minus a mashup of $30 trillion spending plans that are socialist pablum writ large which poll horribly when those polled are told any details like cost, and their current polling leader for delivering that pathetic message is a man with a 40 year history of weather vane politicking and verbal diarrhea.

But you tell yourself whatever partisan platitudes you need to sleep better.

Watching one of the dem midgets climbing up a step ladder to take a swing at Trump should be amusing. Someone needs to take them all aside and just explain to them why they won't win. " It's the economy, stupids."

Joe Biden ran for president twice and lost.

Maybe he should ask The Donald how to win.

Hahahahahaha...

Biden couldn't handle Michael Dukakis. Trump will obliterate him.

Biden has a long long past of very inconvenient political baggage that he's loath to address now. I don't think the old fellow can take it.
