The corporations let their Republican lackeys in Congress know in no uncertain terms that they’d BETTER put a stop to Trump’s tariffs or else. And you can best believe that Mitch McConnell let Trump know through back channels that the tariff wasn’t gonna fly, and the Senate and House were gonna put a stop to it by any means necessary.
Mexico most definitely knew it too...they know more about American domestic politics than Americans do. And they’re smart enough to know that our government is bought and paid for by the corporatocracy. Our government will run afoul of a lot of entities, but they don’t stand a chance against Big Business. Not if they want to stay in office...and they ALL do.
Mexico never had anything to fear from Trump. If I know he’s a blowhard, they know it even moreso. They’re just trying to help him save face.

Mexico is the left's wet dream. Cheap is relative to our perspective, for the majority of Mexicans it isn't cheap because they're all dirt poor.
