All good uses for plastic grocery bags. Also, in many (if not most) places, one can recycle them. Most grocery stores have collection bins for used plastic grocery bags.

So what’s the issue here?
They're obviously finding fault with his speaking flub. It's so unusual for a politician to say something off kilter, they've probably never heard anyone conflabulate their answer into gibberish. Trudeau's definitely a unique one off in that regard.

I am no fan of TrueDope but that stumble was not bad. In the course of an evening my wife, my two young adult son and I make similar stumbles but we understand each other. Maybe not in a two-language country.

I am hoping, and will be VERY glad to see this ban come into effect. Banning plastic shopping bags should also be on this list. I take reusable bags to the grocery store but see far too many people paying 5 cents for plastic bags week after week. They end up in the landfill sites.
I am not in favor of these kind of laws. Most of the plastic bags in the ocean come from the Ganges, not from the St. Lawrence.

Trudeau is the odds on favorite to win the Twit of the Year award in Canada.
"Twit" is gender neutral of course ... or it wouldn't be legal.

Why is that?

Exactly! I'm having a serious does-not-compute moment with the idea that paper and plastic grocery bags are single use. Disposable diapers? That's another story altogether, but I'm pretty sure that women around the world would be up in arms that their rights were being violated if they had to use cloth diapers and a clothes line.

This is what Trudeau's family is doing to reduce single use plastics:
  • switch to drinking water bottles out of water out of
  • when we have water bottles out of plastic
  • away from plastic towards paper like drink-box water

Does this not strike you as problematic?
