President Trump could cure cancer and these people would cry about chemo manufacturers cutting jobs.
He is as proven low-life who has stolen from fellow Americans and even from kids with cancer by siphoning off funds from a charity. He does not give a crap about anyone including you...end of story. If that is your chosen standard bearer, it sure as heck says a lot about you!

Not following the controversy, and don't care, but personally, I don't think winning a sporting event has anything to do with making a country great. It is light entertainment, and should not be treated as anything other than a single nice moment for their fans.

Only sport I still follow is boxing and I am more than happy to cheer for Brits, Ukrainians, Mexicans, etc.

But if you are having some kind of delusional liberal joy moment here, carry on, and see you in 2020.

This is an easy one. A star of the team has spoken out against Trump. He's a snowflake, and the right wing Trump supporters are oversensitive to any slight against the dear leader. Many follow his lead.

So the women's team is not crazy about Trump. They are some of the 65-68% of women who do not like Trump, possibly due to his piggish behavior, his grading of women by looks, and his consistent disparagement of strong women.

Some members of the team are also gay, and Trump is in the process of removing gay rights and making discrimination toward gays as easy as possible.

Why would they like this guy when so many women do not? And if you don't bow down to him, you are disliked by the MAGA crowd. So they root for the opposition. It's like the newfound right-wing love for Putin, who has not changed in decades.

Like 99% (okay, maybe 98%) of Americans, I couldn't care less about women's soccer. And you probably didn't care about it either until these players became media darlings for mouthing off about Trump.

I've been watching soccer, men and women, for decades.

I can tell you almost everything you want to know about this sport.
