I keep reading on conservative websites how in NY a law has passed where if you have a baby and decide you don’t want it, it can be made comfortable until it dies. I just can’t fathom this is true and I lean conservative. I’m told it’s reported in the liberal media as it can only happen if the mother and the child are at risk but the actually law states differently.

What's is so wrong about making a baby expected to die, anyway, comfortable? The parents have already resigned themselves that the baby is going to die, so no wonder they don't want it as much as they wish, otherwise.

No I am saying that if they just don’t want the baby they can let it die.

That's just some BS spouted by RWNJs and their fake news sites. All NY did was extend abortion into the third trimester for legitimate medical reasons. It doesn't mean that an infant can be killed because the parents don't like it or want it. Only the low I.Q crowd believe that one!

don't think you fully understand what some of the candidates running for president have had to say about this...It goes deeper and yes there are those who feel a mother has a right to do whatever she wants when it comes to her body. this is fine as long as it doesn't interfere with a viable life and too often it does.

Even if you are right the law is still 100% wrong. No way, unless it is a life and death matter should a baby be terminated in the 3rd trimester. I am neither 100% pro life, nor a 100% pro choice but I do feel very strongly about life being viable at a certain point

???? A healthy newborn doesn't just up and die, especially in a hospital surrounded by nurses, doctors, and all kinds of resuscitation equipment. Just what kind of scenario are you imagining?

It was taken out of criminal law and made into health law.

The problem with some of the conservative sites is that they desperately try to make it sound as if there are all these women out there merrily deciding late in the game to kill their baby for no reason.

Here is a good article that explains it.

I do not agree, however, that this should have been some sort of cause for celebration and pink lights and what have you. Whenever a late-term abortion happens, it's usually for very sad reasons. This act just took the criminal aspect out of it, which only served to make a difficult situation even worse.

As usual with most right-wing blogs/news sites, it's a complete and utter lie.

Read the post and the article above.

In Virginia you can abort the baby during delivery or let it die after a failed abortion.
