Well the truth is that we could always do what Captain Planet did and dig a hole into the lava beneath in order to create thermal energy from below.

I think NYC has a LGBTJUENAZI problem is far more bigger issue

Not sure if you are joking but that is a very likely scenario in the not so distant future. The primary issue is the most suitable places are typically hands off and/or very active geologically. Yellowstone could power the entire country but even if you were to decide to utilize it there is danger that infrastructure could be destroyed by minor geological activity.

Are there any businesses, especially manufacturing, still in the state? They have been leaving over extreme taxes and government overreach for decades. The state was a craphole when I left 25 years ago with cities crumbling into the dirt, miles of rusting warehouses and factories, abandoned homes and boarded up storefronts.

Many believe CO2 does absolutely NOTHING to affect climate.

By raising the price of energy (electricity, oil, etc) which will happen, everything becomes more expensive. All products and services are affected. Joe Sixpack will suffer greatly from this as it will be difficult to afford energy, as well as many necessary products. Companies an JOBS will leave to seek lower operating costs.

Is you post supposed to be funny? Did I just take it the wrong way?
Maybe they can limit New Yorkers to breathing only say 12 times a day to cut the CO2 output....

I love upstate NY. It will always be where I consider "home".

But NY politicians seem to be doing everything they can to make people and businesses leave and enforce the phrase "you can't go home again".
Same here, but in '94. Where did you escape from? I lived in WNY, near Lockport.

New York has been a very high cost state for businesses for decades. Energy (check electric rates recently), Labor, TAXES, over the top environmental regulation, and other costs have forced businesses to move South or overseas.

This new move is just icing on an already overly expensive, but rotting cake. When the financial industry leaves NYC, or just has small, token operations there, then they will realize the real problem.

How horrible that wages are high/labor is expensive in NY.

Look, most conservatives seem to agree that there is a race to the bottom going on with trade and relocation to third world countries. Why support the same policies domestically you advocate against?

Joe Sixpack can not in any way compete with corporations deciding to pack up and leave for Alabama or Mexico. Thats why labor unions are so crucial to check the power of the corporate elites. To simply celebrate corporate America's attack on the working man by pushing for a race to the bottom is not constructive. Its time that people find the guts to stand up for themselves and fight back.

California won’t secede. Historically it represents the leading edge of demographic and political change that hits the rest of the country in 10/15 years.

More, and more people are now rejecting those trends as they are way too radical for much of the country.

Vox and Huffpo??? Really???

Thing is, wages in NY (at least outside of the NYC area) are NOT high. The exodus of businesses, especially manufacturing has left few jobs and most are low-skill, service ones, with low pay. Combine low pay with high taxes and a high cost of living and you have an economic disaster. Which is one of the reasons NYS is dying. IIRC they have the highest (at least one of the highest) rates of out-migration of US citizens of any state in the nation.

Those workers that have left NYS to follow companies to Alabama have generally seen their wages increase (manufacturing is booming in Alabama), their taxes are a fraction of what they left...and they don't have 6 months of winter. Personally, the heat and humidity are too much for me, but otherwise Alabama is a pretty state. It's a shame leftists have ruined NYS-it also has some very pretty areas, just that most people can't afford to live there.
