Prediction you’re going to see an exodus of business leaving NY. NY like Calif will end up like a third world state.

Quote:
Lawmakers were still working on final amendments yesterday, but the outlines of the deal were becoming clear. The legislation calls for reducing emissions by 40% from 1990 levels by 2030 and 85% by 2050. The remaining 15% of emissions would be offset, making the state carbon neutral. The bill would also require that all electricity generation come from carbon-free sources by 2040. A Climate Action Council would be established to ensure the state meets its targets.

"I believe we have an agreement, and I believe it is going to pass," Cuomo said in a radio interview on WAMC.

It will be interesting to watch.

So basically, red states are trying to become like third world countries relying on poor environmental protection, no unions and low wages in a race to the bottom for both the worker and the environment?

How does that help Joe Sixpack? Some states have to stand up to the power of corporate America even if the ruling class threatens revolt.

Will NY do something to curtail consumerism? Will they stop importing goods from countries with little environmental protections in products manufacturing?

We have a national EPA with national standards. The "emissions" they are talking about reducing in New York are CO2 emissions which is NOT a pollutant. Actual pollutants are restricted IN ALL STATES nationwide. They contend CO2 causes "Man Made Climate Change", however nature also produces it, so how do you stop that too. Many believe CO2 does absolutely NOTHING to affect climate.

By raising the price of energy (electricity, oil, etc) which will happen, everything becomes more expensive. All products and services are affected. Joe Sixpack will suffer greatly from this as it will be difficult to afford energy, as well as many necessary products. Companies an JOBS will leave to seek lower operating costs.

Is you post supposed to be funny? Did I just take it the wrong way?

CA has the 6th biggest economy in the world. Let's hear about those red states.

Does the OP understand that New York City is in New York? Better warn those fat cat Wall Streeters that they will soon be working in the Third World.

CA can secede - would be fine by me. It's become nothing more than a cesspool due the Democrat/liberal policies.

I left NY state in 1997 because Democrat policies had completely wrecked the economy.

How anyone has been hanging on since then, I have no idea.

I love upstate NY. It will always be where I consider "home".

But NY politicians seem to be doing everything they can to make people and businesses leave and enforce the phrase "you can't go home again".
