At the time, the cops said they did it. They confessed. It’s entirely possible that the other guy was just one of the pack who didn’t get caught at first. But even if they didn’t beat and rape the lady, at least they went to jail for all the other bearings and “wilding” they did that night.

We will never know what they did or didn't do due to way it was handled. And if there were that many kids wilding in the park, where were the police?

My DD met Mr. Wonderful and moved to Manhattan on CPW about 2 months after this happened. The first thing she learned was stay away from the park at night. Lifelong New Yorker SiL almost wouldn't even go to Times Square. We were terrified for her. All she could say was what's the point of having a wonderful ring when the crime is so bad ya can't wear it.

Rudy may have morphed into an idiot, but he cleaned NYC up. Or perhaps the price of real estate did it.

In short, you don't care that those boys were coerced into confessing to crimes they didn't commit because you figure "they were criminals anyway". Thanks for showing us what a cold-blooded demeanor looks like.

My opinion on the situation. Some people know a miscarriage of justice had taken place, hence, an exoneration years later. However, some people see this as "well, they're a group of Black males, and we're scared of Black males. Locking them up did us a favor". We can go into stuff about crime rates, but it still wouldn't matter. If you confess to a crime you didn't commit so you don't have to go through the agony of court to prove your innocence, there is a problem here.

I've never been to New York City. Not yet anyway.

Someone said that stop and frisk cleaned up New York City. What no one considers is that the murder rate was dropping before S&F even took place. Gentrification chased alot of people out.

They were robbing and beating up others.

Would you send your daughter or wife into a group of people robbing and beating up people?

IMO, the crime rate also started dropping when we took the lead out of gasoline.

Lots of factors cleaned up NYC. Examples such as high rate of abortions in black and poor communities which lessened criminal elements. Life saving trioige battle filed technology in which gun shot ruins are no longer life threatening. Rico laws put plenty of Italian, black Puerto Rican men in prison by the thousands. These men are coming out of prison now to a change NYC like if it's a time machine. Gentrification changed NYC greatly. Large number of Italians moved out of the city and out of the region. Also blacks on NYC took part in the new great migration back down south. Puerto Ricans in high numbers moved to CT, PA and Florida. In the past 20 years. Millions of educated white suburban folks with college degrees moved into NYC changing the cultural landscape of many neighborhoods. Also you had thousands of educated immigrants who came to America legally. Plenty of educated immigrants moved up quickly in trades, professions and with buying property. Prior to the 1960s most immigrants comign from Europe were uneducated and downtrodden poor. Let's not forget that plenty of people on drugs died or died to related drug health complications.

We really have arrived at that point in America, haven't we? On one side we have a mosaic of independent thinking citizens who value facts, law, reality and shared truths and on the other we have a melting pot of citizens whose apparent goals are to worship, mimic and dependently parrot a naked emperor.

Where have I read about this before? Where have I heard about this nightmare? This thread alone should send chills up and down every true American's spine. Period!

It is sad and astonishing that the Trump supporters here are trying to act like these exonerated men committed any crime. They did not. Them being in the park doesn't mean they were "wilding." The crimes they were convicted of have been shown to be false. Their confessions were coerced and illegal and shouldn't even have been admitted into court.

It is interesting that these same posters probably have a lot of faith in the "justice" system. There was no justice served for these men and their families. Their lives were basically ruined over this and you are all still trying to act like they committed a crime because they were picked up by the police.

FWIW for the sane/moderate posters, these people who are refusing to admit the obvious (just like Trump won't) are the reason why the criminal "justice" system is still a corrupt, racist system. These sorts of people serve on juries, are LE officers, prosecutors, and even district attorneys. Regardless of evidence they have their racial biases and those biases, even when presented with evidence, will not be swayed and they'll exert their racist influence in any way they can within any system that allows it. The only systems left that allow it are the criminal "justice" system and the educational system to a lesser extent.
