When you treat any living thing as purely a commodity then you’ll end up with some pretty bad acts in the name of profits.

Greyhound racing is a sport.

A sport where the "athletes" spend most of their live locked up in cages barely large enough to contain them.

A sport where the "athletes" are given excessive doses of performance enhancing drugs, up to and including drugs like cocaine.

A sport where the handlers irresponsibly breed litter after litter hoping to produce dogs with "champion qualities", whatever that means. The puppies that don't display these qualities are tossed aside; the lucky ones end up in overcrowded shelters or rescues, while many are literally tossed in the garbage or just killed outright.

Anyone associated with this "sport" is a rotten excuse for a human being.

Far too many horses are dying. They are far too vulnerable to leg injuries. Horse racing should definitely be banned. Looks like to many dogs are being killed too.

I am fine with animal racing when all of the following are met: they don't spend most of their time locked-up inside cages or rooms when not racing. Said cages are regularly cleaned. They are properly cared for (food, water, and love) and regularly given check-ups. Those that don't adhere to the preferred standards are placed are placed for adoption, foster homes, and/or therapy/service programs.

well said. i dont see a problem with legitimate animal racing, be they horses, dogs, or what ever. but the animals do need to be treated humanly, and with respect.

and anyone caught not do this should be hung up by their most sensitive parts while naked in a prison yard to be abused by anyone that happens by.

PETA wants to stop horse racing. As long as the animals are treated humanely I don't care. Some owners treat them as moneymaking machines, sadly.

There are so many retired racing greyhounds available for adoption.. Very sweet natured and don't need a lot of exercise but they love short sprints. If rabbits are destroying your garden, get a greyhound and they will fix that problem!

Recently the state of Florida voted to ban greyhound racing (they had the majority of tracks in the US). Hopefully all the displaced dogs can find good homes.

Not that many all at once.
But Mr. Burns might take a bunch of them.

P.S. Disney hated this parody, it's ironic that the ad to see this video was a Disney ad.
