It's really not that difficult of a conversation. Kid'll be fine.

A) No books should be banned.

B) If some parents want to take their kids to a private drag queen story hour, fine. However, it should not be in public schools.

What I've always found odd is that drag queens are the absolute epitome of stereotyping women. Like entertainment by blackface minstrels, which is considered beyond offensive.

Yet feminists embrace drag queens.

More cognitive dissonance.

Yes. With some venues, like this one in TX, finding out that sex offenders are among the "readers" when they fail to do their due diligence for fear of offending these weirdos.

And the fact that parents don't have to take their kids to see drag queens, and can still have them read the Little House books is not the point. The point is the attempt at the normalization of these freak shows.

That is the primary objective. Believe it.

Every year, this liberal wears an "I READ BANNED BOOKS" button. And I don't care who wants to ban which book.

Take a look at the American Library Association list of which books are challenged most often. In 2018, most books were challenged for LGBTQ content, and I suspect more of these challenges came from the right than the left. However, in past years, there have been challenges from, most likely, the left, for books such as Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird.

I oppose ALL efforts to ban books.

You, however, don't seem to be concerned unless you can blame it all on "the left".

If that's your answer, it's weird, and clearly confusing to your kid.

How about saying "Because she likes to dress up and act outrageous"?

So do I (although I would not make some books with pornographic or very gory photos available to children).

As far as I am concerned, if one is old enough to read, understand and enjoy the words of a particular book, s/he is old enough to make a decision as to whether or not to read it. For example, I would have no problem with any 11-year-old reading Lady Chatterley's Lover because s/he would probably find it incomprehensible and almost as boring as The History of Nail Fungus (if there was such a book). And if an 11-year-old was intelligent enough not to find Lady Chatterley's Lover boring, then I would encourage him or her to read anything s/he wanted.

However, that being said, I certainly do not approve of any book in which the encouragement of hatred toward any group of people because of their ancestry was the main point of it, and I certainly would not purchase such trash. Huckleberry Finn and the Little House books do NOT meet that criteria.

??? Why do you think feminists wouldn't enjoy poking fun at female stereotypes? Keep in mind that by doing so, they may be indirectly poking fun at male stereotypes, depending on the skit.

I've been to a few drag shows. They're a riot. I'm pretty sure that at least some, if not all, the dragsters are fully aware of the multiple levels of irony they are using.

No cognitive dissonance here. I am concerned, however, about your inability to have a sense of humor about being human. Maybe you're too young to see what's funny about the human condition.

Drag queens are the over the top worst stereotype of women. Dresses, wigs, piled on makeup, high heels, big breasts ... and harpy snipe snipe snipey ...

Is that what you think women are like???

Would you ask an African American if they think blackface is funny? What answer would you get?
