Of course, parents are free to make their own decisions, and if they want to simply not take their kids to drag queen story hour and continue having their kids read the Little House books, they are free to do so -- and that would be my personal choice if my kids were still young.

P.S. I just discovered that this story is five months old, but apparently, drag queen story hour is still continuing. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/50...een-story-hour

This is just a preview of what the Leftist world will be like: common sense and rationality out the door.

Parents have to stand against it and not allow this crap where their children are concerned by not partaking of this lunacy.

The Little House books are still available in libraries around the country. They have not been taken away. What has happened is that an award was renamed. That's it.

The books do contain some problematic language--characters are notably anti-Indian and anti-black. "The only good Indian is a dead Indian," and, "There were no people there. Only Indians." This type of phrasing isn't consistent with current children's literature awards--which is right. It is also recognized that these beliefs were commonly held, and don't necessarily reflect the morality of Wilder herself. That is best left on the local level, with parents, librarians, and teachers when children may encounter challenging content.

As far as Drag Queen Story Hour, this isn't a recruiting tool. No, it's a diversity event, showing that the library is for everyone. Don't like it? Don't attend one with your children (or without). I would wager that there are no DQSHs scheduled in secret, to spring it on an unknowing public. They are HEAVILY promoted, because they are enormously popular. And guess what? Some children don't even know what a drag queen is. They often think it's a princess story hour. Which is totally fine. As is the message of being your true self and inclusivity. Learning to navigate the world is hard--and learning to deal with people who are very, very different is a great skill to have.

This radical left nonsense has got to stop. Today's children are being indoctrinated into a world without any moral compass, and that can not lead to anything good. Glad I don't have little ones at home.

And it doesn't have anything to do with President Trump.

Amen. I don't know anything about the Little House books, but there's no harm to "drag queen story hour." For those that have a problem with it, I'd only ask this -- have you tried not caring? I think you'll find it very freeing. Just chill out for a minute, relax. You'll find that there's a lot of issues actually worth fighting about, and more worthy of your time and energy.

But as Einstein has pointed out, common sense is actually nothing more than a deposit of prejudices laid down in the mind prior to the age of eighteen. [attribution to Einstein by Lincoln Barnett, editor of "Life" magazine]
Beyond this, the linked story says Laura Ingalls Wilder used anti-black and anti-native terms in her books quite freely. Just how a drag queen can threaten children - you tell me.

How dare those drag queens volunteer to go read to children at a public library!!!!!1!!!!!1!1!!!!
Maybe the world would be a better place if more people were like these queens and volunteered to read to children.

Quick tip. If you don't want to attend you will not be forced to go.

Calling everything you disagree with as The Radical Left has a whole darn lot to do with President Trump. Didn't you pay attention to his speech at the rally?
