Can't imagine what the day must have looked like at Raytheon the morning after. How many systems had to fail for this bird to get shot out of the sky at 60,000'? It's Yuuuuuge!
it's possible Trump withdrew from the original Nuclear deal so he could make a new deal by himself which would be a rehash of the exact same old deal and then claim that he made the biggest deal in the history of the universe that no President before him has ever made... he did that with Mexico and Canada, now with Iran.
I don't see any deal coming about, the right wing in both countries are dug in and they hold the power feeding off each other. This is not much different than North Korea which is going no where, the perfect deal does not exist. If Trump was in power during the Israel-Egyptian conflict how would that have ended peacefully. Diplomatic solutions are the best approach rather than threats and military action.

Trump warns Iran of ’obliteration like you’ve never seen before’
Lol... Iran is facing heavy sanctions plus cyberwar for downing the drone... I hope it was worth it idiots... You lose...
There is a disadvantage to doing that, however.
A cyber attack is similar to bombing an airfield: The advantage is short-lived. They fill in the holes and continue the war.
And worse, it's like revealing we've broken Ultra: Iran will recover and will shield those particular avenues from future attack, which means the US has to start all over again.
Cyberattacks need to be done immediately prior to a "hot iron" attack, like SEAD (supression of enemy air defenses). Otherwise, they're just nuisances.
And one successful cyberattack is not proof of a capability to do it a second time.

Actually, Raytheon's stop took an upward blip...need a new bird built.
Nothing failed in the aircraft. It performed according to specifications.
There might be some questions for Boeing regarding the P-8 that was accompanying the Global Hawk. The Navy flies the two aircraft as an ASW bird dog-hunter pair. The Global Hawk does the bird-dogging, the P-8 does the shooting.
The P-8 also carries the electronic counter measures kit that, presumably, should have provided the protection for the Global Hawk.
