Because in our country there are very little consequences for making baseless claims and very real rewards.

I believe Trump capable of any crime. I also believe that we need evidence and not just here say to convict.

Well, that is how the process goes. First an accusation, then the investigation, and, finally, if there is some merit to the accusations, the legal procedures begin. This woman is no trailer park hussy who is looking for a payday, she is well known, has a spotless reputation, and is putting herself out there , facing criticism like we have seen on here. It takes courage to come out and make these kinds of statements, and there will always be people who make the victim the guilty one.

I suppose I believe the part where she tried on some sexy outfit in a private dressing room and then they proceeded to have a quicky. The part I am not so certain about is where she claims it was non-consensual 25 years later and of course the timing is very suspect at these types of tawdry tales from the past often are.

That's not what she said.

This reminds me of that old game "telephone", when something is whispered in another's ear and so on down a line, until the last person in the line blurts out what they they thought they heard, which is different.

All these interpretations and judgements of what one described happening....this is one reason for a person to not tell their story.

I don't know what to make of this. A woman in her mid 40's at the time of the alleged rape should be mature enough to file a report with the police at that time. This isn't the case of a teenager/early 20's adult being confused on how to deal with such trauma.

Once again, easy access to the media in the internet age and cable news networks that give these type of stories more airtime than mass shootings it's easy to get a celeb/public figure crucified before the facts are in especially now in this era of the #METOO movement that is at a level of McCarthyism/Salem Witch Hunts.

On the other hand these stories are becoming so commonplace people will tune these stories out eventually just like hearing car alarms in parking lots.

Once again, what she had said was, though urged to and discussed making a report, another friend stopped her, saying that it could be such a mistake, him being who he was and his having a bunch of lawyers (who would protect him). Hell, look at the backlash just since it was brought up.

She would have been dragged through the mud as anyone is in these cases, so it was decided to suppress it, as commonly occurs. It was not about not being mature enough to make a claim, and was in the '90's when it was still more difficult to do.

Nice to see how some within society respond to these kinds of events, not having happened to them and with no concept of. Even if this was not the case, the same guy has had several other sexual-attack claims against him over years.

It's so amazing how anyone can support this scumbag, who has proven to be devoid in every way as a human.

Like I said, totally believable story.
On issue one Trump still won the election in 2016. Issue two is likely to cause him to lose enough voters to make a difference in 2020.

Further issue two, which is for certain true, is likely to cause some to change their minds on issue one and conclude that must be true too.

Combined these events and now E. Jean certainly will not gain net new voters.

She is trying to sell her book. Don’t mistake the love of money for courage. You seem to be quite confused on most of your claims. Starting with the accusations (and financial incentive). If she wanted an investigation and legal procedures she wouldn’t have waited 25 years to cash in. She is accusing at least six men of assaulting her.

Beg to differ with you. Trump did not win the election. With the help of Russia interference he slid in. Hillary had millions more of the popular vote. The electoral system needs to go the way of the Mayflower.

IMO, he is an illegal president. He needs to be deported.
