We all know this isn’t true. No matter what Democrats say, they can not force the rich to pay for socialist programs, nor would the rich even allow it. Even at gun point, they steal money from the rich, the math still doesn’t add up. It’s BS. What Democrats really mean but are too afraid to say is that the middle class will pay for these ridiculous “handouts” policies. Not that these policies would even pass Congress.

The rich paying for socialist programs has never been successful in any country.

Well if the income tax system is progressive and social programs are funded by a progressive income tax system, I think it is fair to say that the burden of the funding of social programs are also progressive. But until someone presents an actual detailed plan, anything we say is just speculation on a system that doesn't exist.

You'll never get a good answer to any question about socialism in this country. The vast majority of people don't know what socialism is... A previous post indicates a lack of understanding of even communism means.

The ironic thing about this question is that some of what Trump is doing could be called socialist.

I am not a Trump fan either just to be clear. And I agree. We don't have free markets any longer with everything the Fed has done to manipulate interest rates and conjure artificial liquidity. Central bank policy is socialistic and it will all end very badly for everyone. Trump is currently championing these artificially induced low rates and rigged markets. "The greatest economy ever" that can't handle rates at 2.5% lol.

Social Democracy, he does equal that. Socialism in the Marxist sense, no.

In another thread someone is lamenting the fact the Democrats don't want to go all in on socialism and yet that seems to be the scare tactic for Republicans. It's all getting a little psycho out there.
Anybody who assumes that it's either Trump or Socialism (esp in the borderline USSR/Cuba sense) has either.

a) Never lived in an area with an average or higher percentage of liberals (usually smaller communities/metros of under 200,000 people).

b) Never spent much time in the liberal areas of their medium-to-large city, or

c) Never bothered to have frequent conversations with, or even get to know, people outside the traditional conservative norm.
