Kind of relevant given that's the focus of the piece -- talking about the Green Party in particular.
Canada’s Green Party, said to be gaining ground, has a new platform plan, headlined “Mission: Possible,” to eliminate fossil fuels by 2050. A proposed Green New Deal in America aims to eliminate fossil fuels from the U.S. power grid by 2030 and phase gasoline out of the transportation sector.
NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says Canada’s oil industry is on its way out: “It’s the direction the world is headed.” The newly announced Liberal and Conservative programs are leaning in the zero-carbon direction, although less explicitly.
And as you seem to have an itnerest in Canada's energy issues......I'm sure you will be interested in this article. Trudeau is the leader in charge of the federal govt. right now.

Trans Mountain pipeline expansion is approved by feds

Well, in the immortal words of a Canadian....Ian Tyson.
"Ah, but wishin don't make it so".
Even "boy" Trudeau knows this...it is why he approved the pipeline across BC so Canadian oil can be shipped through the Juan de Fuca Straits endangering salmon and killer whales.
Look...politicians can talk about "overriding" the laws of nature, but nature doesn't care. It is what it is and the laws of physics, energy, etc. etc. cannot be changed by politicians.
For far too long in the western world, we have a "scientifically illiterate" elite making decisions.
