It seems McCarthyism is coming back?

Letter to the MIT community: Immigration is a kind of oxygen | MIT News

"...... Yet faculty members, post-docs, research staff and students tell me that, in their dealings with government agencies, they now feel unfairly scrutinized, stigmatized and on edge – because of their Chinese ethnicity alone.

Nothing could be further from – or more corrosive to *– our community’s collaborative strength and open-hearted ideals. To hear such reports from Chinese and Chinese-American colleagues is heartbreaking. As scholars, teachers, mentors, inventors and entrepreneurs, they have been not only exemplary members of our community but exceptional contributors to American society. I am deeply troubled that they feel themselves repaid with generalized mistrust and disrespect."

If it were McCarthyism then they wouldn't be in the country and able to complain.

Like citing recent political changes in China and asking if the "Gang of Four" is returning.

But hey, since it's McCarthyism where is the president of MIT working now? Is he at a labor camp?

I have posted this many times before. Historically Asians faced more discrimination in the US than any other group. They were the only group for which there were serious attempts to completely banish in the 19th century.

Attempts to revive new forms of discrimination have resulted in founding of a group here in WA called 'Asians for equality.'
