Dan Bongino sums up the difference in how liberals and conservatives see one another perfectly with this statement. The explanation runs from the 6:40 mark to the 12:12 mark of the video and goes into why having an understanding of your political opponents helps in debating the other side leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

In fairness to liberals he makes a clear distinction that there are plenty of exceptions with liberals thinking this way especially high school and more blue collar liberals being more tolerant and understanding of conservatives as opposed to liberals with higher levels of academic education so it's not a blanket repudiation of liberals.

The point he makes is in response to a study that found that the higher the education level a liberal achieves the more socially clueless they are in understanding conservatives, their political opponents.

According to the study, high school educated liberals are 3 times more likely to understand their conservative opponents than liberals with a graduate or doctoral degree. Bongino makes an excellent point on why that is. No such correlation was found when looking at different education levels among conservatives and their understanding of liberals btw.

Don't know who Dan Bongo is, but what makes his opinion any good?

Many liberals may be intolerant of conservatives, but if you think conservatives are somehow more tolerant of liberals - that's a hoot (and a blatant lie).

Whenever I hear an explanation with the use of the term “tolerance” it usually means an obligation on my part to accept you views and behavior and zero respect for mine

"Liberals think conservatives are bad people with ideas while Conservatives think Liberals are people with bad ideas"

We see this playout when liberals claim moral authority while conservative claim there is a higher moral authority than man !!!

We don't need to decide which one is right.
It solves itself when man is resigned to believe he is at the top of the food chain !!! Food has to be put on the table for man to survive. Capitalism has been the engine that has done a better job at it than any other method. Whomever uses that tool best can modify it continuously for better outcomes and more prosperity as long as they don't destroy it in the process !!!
Where liberal logic fails as it must is they believe they have to burn everything down and build from scratch something that has never been built !!! Their faith in themselves to be such pure architects is closer to the faith conservative have in a higher power. A lofty opinion of themselves requiring a great deal of faith but like any religion it will have its disbelievers !!! Man has the unfortunate failing of being corruptible !!! Therefore liberals seek to create a collective where stupid people will believe they are more god like than man like !!! Their best friend is a well educated/indoctrinated low IQ without critical thinking skills !!!

Not entirely correct.

Leftists think all the conservatives must be eliminated or at least sent to gulags for some serious re-education.

Sure, OP. That's why Trump says things in his 'rallies' like Democrats hate this country; and Democrats want to tear this country apart, etc.

Take the plank out of your own eye.

Point one finger and there are 10 pointing back at you.

Why not listen to the 5+ minute segment I outlined to judge for yourself and to debunk his point and point out why he may be wrong instead of automatically dismissing the messenger? It's that kind of complete unwillingness to even consider a differing opinion by those on either side of the political spectrum that literally proves exactly the point he made about many liberals in that clip.

I never said there aren't some conservatives that are just as intolerant. The point of my OP was to post a clip that when watched would generate some debate of the premise of his exact statement in the thread title. If you think he's off base after listening to the 5 minute clip I highlighted (from the 6:40 to 12:12 mark) why not offer something as to why? And just for the record, his argument isn't that some conservatives aren't equally intolerant of liberal ideas, it's that many liberals are intolerant of conservatives because they believe they are bad people whose views should be immediately dismissed out of hand and unworthy of any examination or debate. Dismissed out of hand not based on the merits (or lack thereof) of those conservative views/arguments but by WHO is presenting those views (i.e. conservatives) which is the whole premise of the quote in the thread title.

The theme of the 5 minute segment I highlighted (the premise of the statement in thread title) runs throughout the entire episode using the recent stories about the mainstream media's reporting on the border crisis, social media censorship of conservatives, and a story about identity politics as a few examples.

I've made the same point before:

The conservative point of view is very childish and basic, so the less educated a person, the easier for that person to grasp. It's akin to a pre-teen would have a better understanding on the thought process of a 5-yr-old than a 40-yr-old college grad would understand the same. Because the 40-yr-old is too far removed (too educated, too smart, having too much knowledge) to understand why a 5-yr-old would cry over his shorts being yellow instead of blue.

The liberal point of view is based on facts, knowledge, and science. So the more educated the conservative, the more that they'd see the liberal's point of view. This is akin to a PhD engineering grad being better at grasping String Theory than a 12-yr-old who barely passed Pre-Algebra.
