International law states they need to ask for asylum at the first country they enter. Not the one they think has the best welfare or schools.
Really what the hell are you people complaining about? That we didnt build huge facilities which take years to construct, just to sit empty for this invasion? The conditions are THEIR fault not ours. What happens if 20 relatives show up at your door at once? Is it your fault you dont have a dozen guest bedrooms to accomodate them all?

THEY ARENT REFUGEES. THEY WANT TO COME LIVE THE AMERICAN DREAM. They overpopulated their countries and many of them are criminals who have been forced out of their communities. Oh and you just judge away, since you are essentially an accomplice in the hearts and minds campaign of a foreign invasion its absurd you assume we care.
You really need to read up on Central America. And the effect that our government has had on those countries. Iran Contra ring a bell?

First time I got up close and personal was years ago when my just starting out son went down there at the behest of some nuns who ran an orphanage up in the mountains. Somebody was killing blonde haired Americans and nuns. He passed for German.

United Fruit has had an influence, too.

Couple that with some of our business people wanting to build resorts. In oder to get the land they start chit that makes people flee.

You are correct. They don't have to come here.

But our hands aren't that clean. Thanks to Ollie North, hero of the right and the NRA.

What is TPS has anything to do with refugee/asylum?

Plus, TPS is temporary status whereas refugee/asylum is permanent

Youre deluding yourself to think I bothered to look. I told you I dont care but now that I know I am not entertaining the opinions of a canadian criticizing our border policy any more. I live 15 milee from the mexican border in fact at the most busy crossing in the world. What do you know about our issues here. Its just plain offensive that you think you can tell us we are wrong when youve never had to deal with any of this.
Ive been homeless for 5 years now largely because I have to compete with an estimated 750,000 illegal immigrants in the region for affordable housing. They are willing to share an apartment with 5 people, I cant work 5 jobs to compete. Our schools are flooded with students who barely speak english, their parents speak none and dont intend to. It was all bad enough a few years ago, this current flood is definitely a breaking point.

Wow

You present yourself as an authority on the matter, right ?

How can you even utter that pile of stupid thoughts added on so many others ?

Refugees and asylum seekers are nothing but temporary of COURSE, the word "asylum" should have given you a hint.

Well then, your OWN ancestors asylum seekers were so much better, I guess. Talk again about the american dream ?

I laughed when I read this, when you read it you'll know why ...
What Is the Difference Between Temporary Protected Status and Asylum?

"Two types of immigration categories that get confused quite frequently are temporary protected status (TPS) and asylum. TPS and asylum are both humanitarian in nature and reflect the United States government offering refugees an opportunity to come to the United States because they’re no longer safe in their home country. In that regard, the two are very similar in principle."

How Ending TPS Will Hurt U.S.-Citizen Children

"Over the past two years, the Trump administration has taken steps to strip protections from hundreds of thousands of immigrants in the United States with Temporary Protected Status (TPS), including for nationals from countries such as El Salvador, Honduras, and Haiti."

They were here legally, now they are illegal ... see how that works.

Again, I hope word gets back To Central America that our Nazi camps isn’t the Ritz Carlton. There’s no room service, and all you’re gonna get is cold burritos and toilet water (as AOC stated)

Our hospitality could deter these fake asylum seekers from coming.

When i was working at the southern border, I've rarely seen the locals go out to protest for the right of illegal immigrants. It's always the out of towner bleeding heart liberals from back east or northwest causing trouble at the border.

Blame america is a common deflection but wholly false as central america has a long violent history that far predates our minor involvement. And I bet you think that allende was fairly elected in chile in 1970 too... he was a kgb asset and they sent in thousands of "observers" from cuba and east germany to strong arm the polls then he wrecked their economy as the soviets seized US financed copper mines. I suppose the world would be a better place had we let the che guevaras and fidel castros take over?
Asking America to feel guilt over winning the cold war is just silly.

I grew up in Orange County. 1/4 of the population here are refugees from Vietnam. I am pretty sure they are not temporary residence.
