The irony is that what the ambassador wrote about inept and insecure applies equally to the head of his own government. Teresa May.

She took the post a couple of years ago promising to invoke Article 50 and have a Brexit on favorable terms from the EU. Instead she has been inept and bumbling along, insecure and ignored by EU leaders who gave her a take it or leave it option. She has failed multiple times in passing anything through the parliament, and finally is resigning.

Maybe the US ambassador to UK should use the inept and insecure in his cables to describe the UK government.

Correct. The story here is the leak. And Trump's inept and insecure reaction, of course.

What is the "NATO fund"? Do you guys still imagine that Germany is going to cut a check or something? You probably do, Trump used the word "reimburse".

In real life, this administration has made it clear that US commitment to NATO is now a "perhaps" thing and Europe has upped military spending. Of course, the US is now uber-pouty that the Europeans are buying European weapons - that money belongs to US companies!

Trump fights back.
Welcome to the new world of diplomacy.
It's what got him elected.

Happy to hear the ambassador got the boot. Sounds like he'd be happier in the EU.

He didn't get the boot. May was still supporting him. It was his decision based upon the fact that Trumps feelings being hurt and his well-known predilection to be petty would have resulted in him blocking any communications from the ambassador moving forward, so he did what everyone else working in the Whitehouse, who finally comes to terms with Trump's childishness does …… exit stage left.

The new one will have to tolerate an unending verbal deluge of criticism of the previous guy while in Trump's presence. May will probably have to bribe someone to even take the post.

UK is searching high and low for an ambassador who doesn't think Trump is a nitwit.

Wish them luck

Wonder? How could there be any doubt about it?

Secure men dont need to tie up and rape 12 year old girls. Or 13 year olds.
Just say in.
And it shows when someone like Trump even walks in a room.
