The win appeared driven by fatigue with years of European Union-enforced belt-tightening, combined with high unemployment, after the country almost crashed out of the euro zone at the height of its financial travails in 2015.

Greece is in a very tough spot. It is very hard to see it getting better without them leaving the EU. Howerver, that is not being advocated by this new government. At least not yet.

I guess they realized socialism is a failing strategy. Either way, they are too far in the hole, and Germany will have to come to the rescue. The 4th Reich is here to help!

Actually, the outgoing government promised free stuff galore, and in standard socialist fashion, delivered on virtually none of it.

This was all presumably going to be paid for with the proceeds from many billions of Euros of loans from the EU, led by Germany. Since the money was actually going to be provided by the Germans, they offered a much smaller amount of debt AND required the Greeks to impliment a whole series of reforms, before the proceeds were provided.

So in the end, it has all just gotten worse and the people threw out the socialists because they failed to come through with the free stuff.

It does not appear that Greece will be able to escape this fiscal vortex without first leaving the EU.

Hold up...

So Conservatives were elected to put an end to spending cuts and belt tightening, and American Conservatives see this as a victory?

LMAO...just shows that you right wingers don’t know WHAT the hell you believe in.
