Endorsement contracts need playing time, upset enough people in the sport and watch a promising career ended by injury.
There's a reason most of the world's best soccer players are good if not exemplary sportsman. It's hard to deliberately injure a person who you respect on and off the field. If it's someone who's a complete jerk, for all they're great players, then a risky challenge isn't an issue.
Thing I think is funny is the complete lack of comprehension about the Dutch, European Sportswomen, and behavior expectations. Dutch women are no shrinking violets clutching at pearls, unless the pearls are wrapped around some guy who p**sed them off, suggesting they're shrinking violet, neck where they'll be clutching them while pulling on them with their foot right between the poor guys shoulder blades. Who would have thunk there were 14.3 million 10 and 16 year-old-girls in the United States? Must be that "new math" that those red states use to get their citizens edjumucated.
These women are great athletes only because they are competing against other women. If they competed against men there would be no contest.
Should we all be paid based on how hard we try?............ No. The low paid social worker tries just as hard to do his job as the high paid engineer.
And that has what to do with anything?
They have excelled within the strictures of their sport. They won the championship.

Does the fact that male basketball players only play against other men diminish their accomplishments when Team A wins the championship?
How about football or baseball players? Are their wins lessened because they only compete against other men?
