The ship is partly owned by the American bank, and operated by a swiss company and registered with a flag from Liberia, a country in west Africa known for the drug route from South America to Europe.

The news are saying the smugglers somehow managed to load 18 tons of cocaine in the ship without the company knowing about it. I say BS. Banks are often caught laundering billions of dollars for the drug cartels.

The war on drugs in latin America (causing thousands of deaths and rampant violence) is to take the competition out from the real big drug dealers. Imagine how many other ships are loaded with drugs. Bank of America, HSBC, Deutche bank, and others have been caught, they get a fine, and on with the business.

Like our government doesn't know drugs are coming in this way.

The big banks and our government will NEVER stop this. It's too lucrative for them.

18 tons snuck on? Like you said, no way but we rarely hold bankers accountable for anything.

One set of rules for the elites; another set of rules for the rest of us.

I would be pissed off that they shipped with only a partial load. Those shipping costs will kill their business.

Anybody around here have a mortgage? A Bank partly owns your house.
Anybody have a Car Loan? A Bank partly owns your Car.

I would guess almost every ship sailing has a “loan or financing” from some Bank somewhere in the World. Are the Banks responsible for what happens in your House or Car ... why is the Bank responsible for what the operator does with a ship?

I don’t have a Mortgage or a car loan ... those that blame all banks for everything should cancel all their loans & Credit cards and break connections with All Banks.

Get back to us on how that works out for you.

This appears, and I will admit it appears to be more than a loan. It appears to be more of a business partnership.

If the police finds one gram of cocaine in your car you are going to jail. It is likely nobody will go to jail when carrying 18 tons because the owners are a swiss company and an American bank.

Banks from poor countries are closed when they are caught laundering money. Not so when European or American do it. Imagine if it was an Iranian ship, their ship get caught simply for sending oil to neighboring Syria.

I think that the assumption should be that the bank did know about it just like the assumption would be the same if drugs were found in the vehicle or home of a private citizen or even at the business location of a smaller corporation. Of course, the bank will get off here.

Put two and two together. We use our military to protect the poppy fields in Afghanistan to further the bankers wars, they have to get the end product out and about somehow.
