Its basically a big drone, that is capable of carrying a persons weight, they normally use either shrouded high capacity rotors or very small twin jet engines. The are very cool, but most of them can only fly for a few minutes at a time.

I saw video of a recent one, that was modeled to look like a motorcycle, it had 2 small thrust (jet engines) in place of the wheels, its ceiling limit was low, like around 500ft or less, but it still looked very fun.

Actually, the Bastille Day parade is way cool; I got to see one in Paris over 40 years ago, and not only never forgot it, actually spent some valuable time Sunday watching highlights of this year's parade on France24, a cheese-eating, surrender-monkey TV network sometimes shown on MhZ, a Euro-socialist TV network carried by some commie-loving PBS channels.

The hoverboard "soldier" (wasn't really one, but the inventor dressed as one) was cool, but the best parts are always the horse soldiers in spectacular uniforms (including the horses!) and the still badass Foreign Legion brigades, especially their version of the Army Engineering Corps, whose dress uniforms include long leather aprons, carry axes instead of rifles, and sport long beards.

It's mostly a celebration of people, people who happen to be in the French armed forces (including the ax-carrying, Smith Brothers-beards contingent). It's almost universally popular with the French, and the street parties are even funner than the parade.

They do always feature some tanks, but I've never heard of any of them damaging the Champs Elysses. I suppose the French keep up their road infrastructure well enough to support tanks, in case the Germans invade again.

I guess this means we will be seeing a platoon of flying soldiers at next years DC parade? Cool.

Exactly thatís their tradition of that day. We have ours of July 4 which our President decided he wanted to change to put himself at the center. Thatís the difference
