“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered.
And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”

Everyone not from East Africa is an immigrant. So how can the same people criticise Europeans colonizing anywhere outside Subsaharan Africa? The conflict between conquistadors and Indians was a battle between brothers, not a genocide. Isn't that where suchlogic would lead?
I think you guys don't get the scale that scientist work with time wise. 5000 years is a blink of an eye when considering how migration works over 100's of thousands of years. I get what those scientist are getting at, its the frailty of man's own mind and self-importance that causes us to recoil at the idea that 5000 years is not a long time.
We base everything on our short and meager life spans.
Now those scientist were not the ones that wrote the article and since I cannot see the article I cannot pass judgement on how the information was presented.

I think people do understand that 5000 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things. That is not the disconnect. I think two different arguments are being made at the same time.
If your family has been in, what is now, Austria for 5000 years, chances are you feel like an Austrian. And the rest of the world considers you an Austrian.
Now, the scientists are making the argument that, Austria is a melting pot because your family was from somewhere else 6000 years ago. To me, that doesn’t cut it, because we are not talking about transforming from a chimp into a human here. We are talking about the formation of ethnic groups among relatively small gene pools.
Not sure why anyone with any knowledge of history is surprised by this.
"Europe" genetically was first settled by people from Africa and then all the way up to more modern times were invaded repeatedly from the south and the east with Ghengis Khan & sons famously fathering thousands and thousands of children.
This being said one would have to separate GENETIC from CULTURAL invasions.
Imagine a portal opens up to 15th century Spain, do we really want a couple million of them coming to our country? That would be a big no from me for certain.
