Great economy.

Amazon is hiring right now, starting at...wait for it....$15 an hour where you work from home and do customer service. No degree required, but they'll pay you more if you have one. That's pretty decent pay for not having to put clothes on or leave your house.
So you’re conceding that there are many wealthy companies, including Amazon, which pay $0 in US federal income taxes....and after telling me “that’s not really true.”

Also, you’re misusing the word ‘rhetoric’ as I’m stating a proven fact.

Also, not sure why you’re inserting Bernie Sanders into the discussion. I’m not a Bernie Sanders supporter. Again, just stating facts here.

Also, you don’t need to persuade me that corporations benefit society by providing people with good paying jobs, etc. I never suggested that wasn’t the case. I was just pointing out that many, again, factually proven, pay $0 in federal income tax. This was merely a rebuttal to your statement that liberals don’t realize that America has a huge number of people who pay no taxes or really do anything to better our country. By the way, I don’t disagree with this point, just saying that they aren’t the only ones not paying their fair share.

We could dig into the population that doesn’t contribute. In my view the largest violators are the homeless, most of who are drug addicts. And yes, you can partially thank the pharmaceutical companies and greedy unethical doctors for pushing opioids which caused millions to become addicted and flush their lives down the toilet. In many cases these people were contributing to society at one point...and now they’re screwed.

I don't recall ever using the word "rhetoric" but yes, I do know what it means. I still stand by my original claim that a whole lot of liberals don't realize that socialism will never work because we just can't afford it.

My issue is that some people act like no businesses at all pay taxes, and the ones who don't people act as if they're evil and greedy while what these companies are doing is reinvesting that money into themselves, creating more jobs and production, etc.

I disagree about the homeless being the largest violators. They have literally nothing, and don't use any government services for the most part. I do have empathy for those vets who are mentally disturbed but not so much for the people who are just bums. I lived in Los Angeles and I can't tell you enough about my encounters with the homeless. I was on Venice Beach once and we overheard these homeless kids talking about how much they didn't "make" that day.

A good example of what I'm actually talking about is my best friend who used to work the front desk at an orthodontist's office that dealt with many Medicaid cases. She tells me that soooo many people were on Medicaid while having hair and nails done, new iPhones, and Michael Kors purses. My friend is married to a successful attorney and she doesn't even have all that. The best (worst) was a lady who was trying to milk the government for an extra retainer for her kid that they wouldn't cover, so she made a scene and demanded gas money for her trip. The doctor actually gave her money, too, which blew my mind.

In post #164 you accused me of using Bernie Sanders rhetoric.

Ok, fair enough.

But also to be fair your statement sounds like something he would say, verbatim. And what his followers would say.

And also to be fair, even if said companies like Amazon that paid no tax, paid taxes, it still wouldn't come near to the amount all of the socialist programs he wants would cost. Not even close.

Face it. Most of America hugely disapproves of these people and it's to Trump's YUGE advantage to keep them front and center in the news. His approval in the other hand continues to rise and is now around 50%. Expect more of it.

No... I don't think it's hypocritical, because it's not equivalent.

I have no issue with him being critical of Omar in terms of her actual job or even of her personal conduct.

I do have an issue with him telling her to go back where she came from.

There's a difference.

The pea-brains of racist, hypocritical Trump supporters summarized in one tweet about Omar:

I am, strangely, inclined to agree with the basic premise of what you said here.

The 4 Congresswomen are about as likely as Trump to hit Twitter to complain and rev up their supporters.

If he finds that concerning, throwing out a distraction to put them into the spotlight as a problem for Pelosi and the old guard Dems in Congress is not a terrible technique.

I think he should have stopped short of telling members of Congress to "go back where they came from," though, because the reality is that they ARE where they came from except for Omar and she's been a citizen for a long time now.
