California history was particularly brutal toward the tribes, because of the Gold Rush, along with various land rushes.

In a way, reparations are built into the treaties and the Indian land claims settlement process. Native people are guaranteed health care, housing, education and other services in perpetuity in exchange for land taken from them. Coverage of some of these goods and services can be woefully inadequate, however. And there are additional issues of a gradual whittling-away of their self-governance rights, denial of rights to religious practice, miscarriage of justice in a system stacked against them, and a myriad of other complex concerns.

No one was native to this country as all of our ancestors migrated here from somewhere else and there was no land ownership or immigration laws back then. We are only responsible for our own actions not the actions of others even if they had been related to us. Why should I pay anything anyway since my ancestors didn't even come here till the early 1900's? If the tribes want reparations then let them dig up those whom they think wronged them.

No, blacks should not get reparations for the same reasons. The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million and forgave them many debts in order to acquire some lands that the Mexicans never settled anyway. We also fought them in a war and we were the victors. No reparations for Mexicans either.

I'd like to see our country divided in half also with conservatives on one half and liberals on the other. It would rid us of all this hatred and infighting and each congress could finally get something done by their own political beliefs.
Except tons of citizens aren't either.

Everything isn't black and white.

Everything isn't 'Us vs. Them'.

Shouldn't all the white people go back to the countries where they came from so the natives can have all of their land back?

They wouldn't take them back.

That's why land is important. They need LAND.

This. There were wars. One side won, one side lost, same as everywhere else in the world, same as the various tribes did to each other taking & ceding territory as a result of war. Which part of this do people not understand?

I am fine with California being donated to the Native Americans. Goodbye California.

It’s only right. I’m sure the progressives in California will be fine living under Indian rule. There might not be much revenge.

Lol, they, blacks, and anyone else, have zero care for righting wrongs, nor even feel like a victim. They smell free money and will do all they can to get it.

For these Native Americans, if it was really about land, there is plenty for sale. It is not, it is about they want the economic value of the land, as in they really think the gov will just force everyone to hand over their property, or provide a trillion dollars in compensation, that way they can just sit back and live rich, and not have to work.

Just another example of trying to take from the productive class.
