California is now removing bells placed 100 years ago to commemorate the the 100th anniversary of when Catholic missions were founded. Mostly due to terrible things the Church did to Natives.
What we did to the 'American Indians' is terrible. As a white person, it is one of the things that shames me the most about my ancestors; and I do think that the tribes are entitled to some kind of reparations, and also some smaller payment to those blacks with at least a dozen direct ancestors who were slaves in the U.S. during the period of 1789-1865. I would also like to see the land encompassed by the Treaty of Hidalgo-Guadalupe returned to Mexico -- but that is mostly to get rid of California.
As an aside, people keep talking about how divided the U.S. has become, and I would actually like us to physically divide, also, with a line divided horizontally between the northern half and southern half of the U.S. I would gladly live and spend the rest of my life in the northern half.
Would you be talking about the very people that can't get their own birth certificate for a voter ID ?

There are some tribes that could easily pass for Asians in overall physical appearance . Especially the women. I worked with a Navajo guy who's wife you would have sworn on a Bible was Japanese. She was absolutely gorgeous. Flawless skin, long black hair, classic Asian eyes, slight of stature but somewhat tall. If I didn't know her I would have thought she was from Hokaido.

Who's "we"? Those people are all dead now. Are you claiming that an entire race alive to today that had nothing to do with the past should feel terrible about something they played no role in and pay the Amerindians reparations for dead people's deeds? No one was native to this country as all of our ancestors migrated here from somewhere else and there was no land ownership or immigration laws back then. We are only responsible for our own actions not the actions of others even if they had been related to us. Why should I pay anything anyway since my ancestors didn't even come here till the early 1900's? If the tribes want reparations then let them dig up those whom they think wronged them.
No, blacks should not get reparations for the same reasons. The U.S. paid Mexico $15 million and forgave them many debts in order to acquire some lands that the Mexicans never settled anyway. We also fought them in a war and we were the victors. No reparations for Mexicans either.
I'd like to see our country divided in half also with conservatives on one half and liberals on the other. It would rid us of all this hatred and infighting and each congress could finally get something done by their own political beliefs.
I'd be more than happy to give California back to the NDNs. It's not like it's a useful place right now. Let the natives destroy the buildings and push everyone out, returning it to how it was 100s of years ago. All. for it.
I'd happily pack up and leave, but not before I sat there with a giant bowl of popcorn and watched the liberals' heads explode because they wouldn't be able to complain about it.

So, please, can I ask both reps and dems to divide themselves any way they want, but leave Florida for the rest of us?
